aha, so this is how you do it, it will help me greatly when doing shadows

I actually tend to make 2 layers for the shadows!
Layers are great for being organized but don't make too many! It can get confusing.

I just copy and paste my color layer and lines layer, flatten those and put a masking layer with a single color over it. Then I copy and paste that layer a bunch of times, just moving it around by a pixel until I get the border the width I'd like.
TL;DR
copy/paste UP
copy/paste RIGHT
copy/paste DOWN
copy/paste LEFT
REPEAT UNTIL IT LOOKS RIGHT
and then flatten into one layer. c:
