The title is French for "The Kiss of Clarity""You're... letting me go?"
"I am."
"And Genevieve...?"
"She will come soon after."
It was a resolute answer. Belle looks away, not surprised she is more depressed instead of elated.
"I can't just forget this..."
"You must. Your friends are waiting for you."
His terse reply, she knew, was meant to discourage her. Instead, she reaches to touch his face.
He tenses under her palm, holding his eyes shut.
"Open your eyes..."
His face flickers, but he obeys. Belle's heart lightens when she finds the longing in his dark eyes. The longing she reciprocated.
"I don't think I could leave if I tried."
With one breath his resolve cracks into her hand and his foundation is broken. He brushes his finger into her hair, and curls a hand behind her neck. He whispers brokenly.
"La Belle..."
