Description

Personal work. This drawing was worked on little by little over the course of a couple weeks while I was waiting.
Some while waiting in the Dr.'s waiting room, while waiting on food at a restaurant, and waiting in the car while my wife runs in the grocery store for a couple items.

Graphite on paper
7x9 inches

I don't want to reveal too much! I don't have a "story" written for this but there is a bit of a story in the piece . Thank you!

Well, the night dreams get weird but are mostly average. My day dreams though... I'm grown up but I still go many places .

yeah i know me as well, its kinda weird cause i read something saying how adults dream less, but as i got older the dreams came more and got more interesting. i wish i could some how turn them into art. though ive been trying. ah well

.....its.....European style.......right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SethFitts In reply to Kryione [2010-09-24 12:43:28 +0000 UTC]

I have not given it any thought. There are many different "European" styles.
I think of the style as "me".

Kryione In reply to SethFitts [2010-09-24 16:09:57 +0000 UTC]

ok,what kind of artistic influence have you got?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SethFitts In reply to Kryione [2010-09-24 20:49:57 +0000 UTC]

Oh I think I understand what you meant before .
Well I have had many influences (there is a list of artists in my Journal on my main DA page). I would borrow certain characteristics I liked from a particular artist and over time those characteristics evolved into a style I would be comfortable with and call my own.
Genres I have been interested in and that have had some sort of influence on my artistic development are surrealism, symbolism, expressionism, impressionism, cubism, fantasists(technically not an art movement), children's book illustration, illustration.
I hope this answered your question. If you have more questions, feel free to ask.

Thank you! I've been trying to work my way into storybook illustration for awhile now and I'm sure this is a reflection of that.

Yep. I like it. Agree with the comment about it being a little different from your color work; and this is a positive observation. The hair detail with the swirls/curls is great. Pulls the eye right to the center of the pic and adds a unique component. Swirl on, dude.

I really like how you do faces. It's got just enough lines to outline the facial features and structure but few enough so that imagination can fill in the rest.

Great job! I especially like the expressions.

I draw them, they don't get posted often. I try to keep to a universal feel with my work. That's why I use animals a lot. This way I'm not leaving most people out, unless you hate animals.
