Description A commission I got from an awesome artist at RAI-CON Spring; I just colored it in with some piazza and flair~!

Check out facebook.com/robartdownie

He takes commissions and by golly they are wholesome yet epically crafted~!

Here you see Shift Zaslayne, The Slave Breaker (A freedom fighter who frees the oppressed and destroys the tyrants that oppress, with extreme prejudice), using his Soulblade/Soulfire Sword, now with greater control to maintain its shape and form. His bandanna is in place, his kilt is mighty and his armour is ready to smash it up~!

I’m going to need some more time to read the description of your first post of Shift, but by the summary here, I can tell that quite a few of my characters would see him as a friend. Messor would be indifferent to Shift unless he joins forces with her against Provisor (Provisor and Messor are each other’s greatest weaknesses). And I already can tell what Shift would think of the reviled Gary-Stu. I also need to give credit to you and RAI-CON Spring for your collaboration together on Shift Breaker as he has a neat design as well.

Yeah, because this one is  the one with the most details here. Oh he's a friend alright, doesn't discriminate against anybody, except for tyrants, slave traders, necromancers, anybody who treats the lives of others as if they were so expendable as dirt.

Shift sometimes might see eye to eye with someone like Messor, but he wouldn't join her, except to perhaps take down that brother of hers, simply as a principle. (The weaknesses boiling down to...Creation and Destruction, right?) Oh please man, if you think Shift here would hate that guy, then believe you me, ZX (his picture as he stands as a, oc, not an fc, you will not find, save for here  and his info? Its something I would have to regale ya with, in detail for this guy is my main, my signature, my first in a sense.) would absolutely loathe the very concept of Gary-Stu, though as for those two siblings, its a case of, as a force of change and balance, he really wouldn't see their pointless "in-fighting" as anything more, than lashing out against themselves and everyone else, in a cruel, wasteful way.

Oh no man, Rai-Con Spring is a Comic Con Event here in Scotland~ Rob-Art Downie (links in the description) is the guy who designed this look for him, Shift Zaslayne here only has the title of "SLAVE BREAKER" because as the name implies, he breaks the chains of slaves, whether they be living or undead.

So far I have read up until the backstory on Shift and I’ve understood more of what he is like. I don’t think Shift would have too many issues with my main character, as despite Master Fiendish’s addiction of wanting to be a villain, the so-called “villains” Fiendish most often allies himself with are those wrongfully accused of villainy over ludicrous superstitions, and Fiendish is not capable of being little more than Mustache-Twirler archetypes like Dick Dastardly and Snidley Whiplash, and even they are more evil than Fiendish (minus my pilot story back when I was manipulated last year, yet even that story had Fiendish freeing the persecuted despite murdering some of the oppressors).

If Shift were to befriend Master Fiendish, Messor wouldn’t dare harm her son because she would not want to in tern harm Shift. If Messor harms anyone that is not created by Provisor physically or mentally, she would commit her own form of Seppuku on herself as punishment, as her strict obligations to her own rules are one of her biggest flaws. Which is unlike Provisor, who flips the middle finger at rules and violates everything and everyone, until an army of outraged deities, aided by Messor, would seal Provisor’s fate. Yes, if either sibling of the Yin and Yang gain an advantage against the other, either Provisor would torture Messor through infinite eternal Damnation or Messor would instantly eradicate Provisor out of existence except for his skull.

Not to mention Mary-Sues since they are more well known throughout bad fan fiction, like the one that took over the Starship Enterprise as captain in Star Trek back in the 70s. Gary-Stus are also named Marty-Stus, but I find the former name funnier.

Ah ok, I understand now with both the design and Shift Zaslayne‘s title.

Believe me, I doubt Master Fiendish would be on his radar; he's forgiving to a point, but to be fair, those eyes of his can see what a person is like, reading them better than a bloodhound at that. Oh hohoho! So he is your main character, is he? Interesting. Shift himself is often a source of scorn, whether it be down to the fact that he's a Skeleton that was originally raised by Necrotic Energy or ...yeah the part where he isn't exactly, the most socially adept, dying and remaking yourself, along with hiding for so long, is not an easy thing to progress through. (Ah! So he's got a little more bite, but not without its drawbacks it seems. This does make things much more delightful to observe.)

Oh really? So she would kill an "Avatar" of herself because one of her rules is to never harm or endanger another life that does not in some way, relate to that fiend Provisor? Oh ho ho...curious indeed. Very curious. Wait...why would she leave his skull? Surely she hasn't become so delusional as to have visions of grandeur at having her most hated enemy's skull as a trophy, right? Shift may be somewhat in the service of a Goddess, but he barely tolerates deities when they start interfering in the lives of mortals, playing with them like pawns, because that to him, is no different from slavery. It was deities that were responsible for Necromancy of all things becoming a thing, that gets progressively more heinous as time goes on. Chaotic though he may be, I dare say even he wouldn't hesitate to slay Yin or Yang there if they started endangering more lives than what was worth. Mind you, Shift Zaslayne here might be friendly, but underneath that, only vengeance and a longing for some kind of "undead peace" are what is left, so while it is doubtful he'd be best buddies with Fiendish, I doubt he'd let the poor guy get killed.

Yes, because of a certain fanfiction that was written in a magazine, right? Yeah, I fear Marty just doesn't have the same force as Gary really.

Indeed. He broke free from his shackles, now he seeks to do the same for everyone else, because the dead shouldn't be disrespected like, this, nor should the living be made to suffer on the whims of tyrants!

That’s good to know, especially since Fiendish, thinking he is defeating a “Superhero” often foils Admiral Narcissist Judgement’s horrific ambitions. Peccatori used to be my main character, but I was running out of concepts for him so I made Fiendish to take his place. In the dated pilot story I wrote and archived, Fiendish helped assassinate quite a few oppressive monarchs on a medieval fairy tale based planet with early 20th century firearms, including a bunch of corrupted Fairy Godmothers. But he regretted doing so when he discovered that an avatar Provisor created that planet and terrorized everyone on it to follow his oppressive sadistic rule, all for the sake of torturing a young woman over and over again. That avatar was destroyed by the original after everyone turned against him.

Messor only wants her grudge focused on what revolves around her brother for violating her, and she can be reasoned with to give up her hunt by those from outside her grudge standing in her way. In my crossover story with Nerdsman’s Winona and Master Fiendish, Messor only levitates whatever she’s not concerned with safely out of her way before reassembling it back to the way they were unharmed during her mission, and she gave up and retreated when finding out that Winona befriended and defended Fiendish. Messor would give up and retreat just the same if Shift defended Fiendish. And yet despite all this, Fiendish still respects her as his mother and unlike Provisor, still sees good in her. Provisor’s skull is actually a necessity rather than a trophy, as it still retains the power of creation, and when Messor fuses it to her head, she gains the power of creation, which she tries her best to use to restore the carnage left by Provisor, though she is not experienced at using such power. The risk for Messor doing so however is if ANJ were to confront her with the skull. The Gary-Stu sees Provisor to be “the only true hero” for punishing those who are not himself, so he would resurrect Provisor to torture Messor.

Right. And Gary-Stu just sounds more impactful.

Shift has a very solid backstory and a solid goal which I like.
