Description
For the weekly contest, with this weeks theme of "Baby Invasion". So here's Derpy as a filly.I'm not too happy with how this one turned out, colored pencils are still very hard for me. But here it is anyways
Critique is welcome! I know I made a few mistakes here, so don't be shy to point them out to me ;D

If I had to point something out, I'm not sure about her tongue - it seems to be missing.

Thanks! And the tongue was there at one point, but I think somewhere along the lines it must have blended in with the rest of the mouth. And my scanner may have messed up the colors a little bit. But thanks for pointing that out! I'll watch for stuff like that better in the future

If you would like a bit of critique, however, I could give it to you: Just put her wings a little higher, and let a little of her mane drop to the other side as well, just to add a bit of volume. Other than that you're lookin A okay!

I didn't even think about the mane! It really would have looked better dropped down... And I agree with you on the wings as well. I actually completely forgot about the wings until I had finished the entire picture, so I had to erase and add white paint to cover over the black lines that were in the way and then attempt to draw in wings and make it look semi-decent... So in the future I need to remember pegasus have wings!
Anyways, thanks for the critique! It really does help to get a second opinion sometimes ;D

Oh yes some of them can be pretty expensive. I think I remember a Derpy sketch made by Lauren herself that sold for around $2000 (if I remember correctly). I'd LOVE to have something like that on my wall, but don't think I'd ever see myself paying that much 0__o

I can barely afford paint and paper atm, so a two grand sketch is a tad out of my budget
Would be nice to one day have something like it though, something to show as a sign of achievement.

My financial situation isn't too different, I bought some canvas materials last week and it just about emptied all my extra money for the next couple months...
But yes, that would be pretty cool to have something like that. If I ever became rich I'd have a whole wall dedicated to MLP art xD

Oh definitely. I never remembered colored pencils being as expensive as they are now, and just about every other medium is the same way. That's a neat idea to make your own paints though, I may try that someday too

The only issue with making your own paint is the simply thing that you always say you've done it wrong [even when you've done it right] and then paint a tiny bit and you say, no that looks wrong. [even though it may be identical to the other paints] Human brains are weird

Yes, our brains work very weirdly sometimes xD I've never made paint before, but I'm the same way when it comes to proportions and such. Whatever sketch I make looks completely wrong, but in reality a lot of them are probably correct, and when I go back through my sketches I think "Hmm this one looks fine, why didn't I use it?". Anyways, yeah. We're weird creatures
