Beautiful work, and the story behind it adds to that beauty.

Thanks very much. There is some strange comfort in knowing that the work itself will outlive me and if cared for, possibly will descend into my future as a record of not only my father but also of my own time.
It's a letter so to speak, to my descendants.
Of course, they'll probably be too damn wrapped up in whatever version of 'Angry Birds' is popular then to notice a boring non-animated picture sitting around.
Grrrr You little bastards.
Wait. Sorry future descendants. I am a bad ancestor.

may i as how you did this? was it all made digital or did you do a sketch first?

Senecal In reply to MisterWilson [2012-10-07 15:36:34 +0000 UTC]
It has been awhile but at the time this was made I was working directly in digital from a blank document. But I do "sketch" inside the digital file.
"YQfm" is "Your Quietly fading mind" (or memory).
I made this about and I guess for, my father who was dying from/with Alzheimer's.

oh god ! now i see the figure in the right spot! a father from a friend of mine is suffering from the same thing... it seems so unreal, and yet it is not. the very much of strength, and ofcourse this picture becomes even better now that i know this. it is well hidden in that what shows in the image.

Hey there, thanks. I know you are probably just passing through and I appreciate it.
In regards to taking it home, actually, you can.
The original 1/1 giclΓ©e is available here
It is 25 " x 30 " floated in a custom plastic frame.
I'd talk to Caren at the gallery, she is very good about making art collection a reality. It might not be something you are really ready for at this moment but it would not be a bad idea to drop her a line to let her know you like it!

Again, I really like the cool colors- especially combined with the earthy colors. It's quite calm. But there's still and energy to it.

Thanks. I've seen cool stuff done with external textural scans but have never really tried it.
Basically this is just a PS drawing that became a digital painting, so native digital from start to finish, no external elements.
Glad you stopped by!

Thank you, this is probably one of the works that is closer to my heart.
Actually I love them all but this one resonates on a different level for me.

This looks much more like a painting than most of your stuff.
Reminds me of Ernest Hemingway's 'The Pearl'.

Water, yeah memories, the blending of the past and present. You are so right on it is scary.
This too is another intensly personal work about someone in my life and the effect that their day to day being has created.
Ripples like radiowaves oozing through the ether... they are invisible to us but we feel the effect.
I wish sometimes the past is a tangible place I could return to now, with older eyes and reexpereince.
But we are in the place we are now...take time to appreciate the "now" and the interactions occuring as we speak, would be the message I suppose.
Sorry for the long diatribe, but you are really getting it.

Very rational, almost as done by an architect........colors look so soft, as if worked over silk....

Hey thanks, silk... this is an interesting idea.
I've been working in watercolor ( yeah wetmedia!) the past few days so some of that sensibility probably came into this image.
Thanks for stopping by!

I like the rectangular shapes in this. Kind of pushes your eye around. Or something. I don't know. But I do know that I like this.
