It's not out of place, It's the final act of Higuide which changes him into a hero.
That Knight, Higuide, was a ruthless DRF patrol inspector from the earlier chapters.
He killed Tyra's partner and tried to kill Kozlov, If wasn't for... Forgot their names, you know the female one that rides the motorcyle and carries that gun and her partner who is the motorcycle?....Anyways, if it wasn't for them then Kozlov/Tyra would've been torn to pieces by Higuide.
I could go more into the history but I don't want to bore you.
