I made this the other night, on a flash of inspiration born of a gloominess which was in turn born of a despairing lack of notoriety as a narrator. The creative candle was burning long past midnight as I plucked away at this rather experimental little thing, listening to music equally haunting, soothing, and inspiring, and occasionally munching chocolate for fuel... the former being a substance which is, regrettably, a bit scarce in my life at large nowadays, as I suffer almost the same as Charlie Bucket (though gladly I haven't been reduced to naught but cabbage soup JUST yet). Oh well... maybe I'll find a golden ticket, and then life will turn around for the better. This sparks another thought... if I have a 'golden ticket' at all, her name is Eyrco.

Eyrco, of course, representing the book upon whose pages her name is repetitively scrawled, as well as the names of her friends... AND her enemies. I suppose this piece is somewhat symbolic, as well... those shadowy fiends on the right could very well be metaphors for the fiendish barrier of self-promotion as a struggling, impoverished unknown. Down in the corner we have a shameless little advertisement... I don't like it there. But if there's anything I've learned this year, it's that you can NOT simply mention a book once and expect wild success... or, indeed, ANY success. So I'm going to try this for a while... any Harahpin-based art I produce will likely have that on it somewhere, or at least in the description... maybe both. Though, again, I don't like it... I think it royally screws up the aesthetic, big time. Plus it makes me feel bad, even disgusting... just short of a soulless corporate sludgebag, actually, to mar my little babies with cold, calculating capitalism. And many of you may find yourself thinking 'Man, I already KNOW about this book, stop shoving it in my face!' But someone new may come along who has never heard of it. And the cruel fact of it is... this must be done. If my stories are to truly take off, they must get over this hump.

On a lighter note, a work-in-progress of this can be seen here: sekoiyastoryteller.deviantart.… Again, it was some sleepy, wee-hours experimenting, and it may look unpolished, even choppy in some places, but overall, I really do like how it came out.
