Description This is Esmeralda... a planet where humans are known as 'Whim-folk', and where antelopes dance, dogs paint, squirrels cook, spiders play music on their web-strings, and dragons are known more for their string-section singing voices than for their fire breath. And where, of course, there dwells one cantankerous little Whim who is barely visible in the grand scheme of it all, a shadow hidden in shadows, a dark little speck among all the wondrous, colorful fantasy... if she only knew how much bigger than that her destiny is... she'd only grumble even more. But no hiding from THAT, I'm afraid... no matter how dark the shadows she hides in...

Esmeralda is to be the setting of my next big story project after the book I'm about to publish (no, it is NOT the setting of the book... it's the NEXT project ). So I've been developing it extensively as of late. This map is only the first go... it will likely develop even further, probably making this map outdated in time. The time for the general public to know more, much more, about this world and its inhabitants will come in time... but for now, a sneak peek of sorts.

Other stuff~~~

*... There's a kingdom in that spot... I'm just not entirely sure what it's called yet. When I get more info, I'll update this. (EDIT: I know what that Kingdom is called now... it's called 'Din-Aurkann'. Just let me gather the incentive to update the map itself... )

The light blue lines in the ocean are the edges of major tectonic plates... just in case anyone was wondering why those were there. I needed to know where the mountain ranges were going to go.

That big continent on the left, the Veiled World... you actually can't see most of it... nor do you need to, in fact. Just know that it wraps all the way around the sphere to meet with that little *... peninsula in the upper right, and that nothing plot-related really happens there (not to my knowledge anyway).

The map is awesome!! Maps always help me orient myself in a new universe, and often bring revelations with them, ahaha. This looks epic! Good luck on your new story!

By the way, I see that you're a story teller, so if you're interested in doing a novel writer's questionnaire, I made one here: [link] You don't have to, but I'd love to know more about your stories!

Thanks, I'm glad you like it so well! ^_^ I know what you mean, too, about the orientation and the revelations.

OOH, I read that, and it looks fun! I think I probably shall do it at some point, thanks for suggesting it! And thanks also for your interest.

Thank you! Can you see where Masky lives? Of course you probably spotted that right off.

It DOES have an official name! 'The World Within' doesn't really apply except for from the perspective of a select few. I dunno why I didn't think of that name right off... I was looking for something that seemed deeply... gypsy-ish... and when that hit me, I was like "Of COURSE!!!"

Yes, I did My sister and I were looking at the map, and she at once started pointing aout areas where she'd like to live(most involving rainforests and/or dragons), and I thought a moment, saw Masky's little face, and said, very matter-of-factly, 'I'd like to live... there."

La Esmeralda Did you get that from The Hunchback of Notre Dame? Victor Hugo's awesomeness in France Very gypsy-ish, considering.

(I'm finally getting to this... I had to spend most of yesterday doing homework because I left it all to the last minute again. I tend to do that...)

Anyway! It makes a happy fuzzy bubble inside me that you guys got so interactive with this map. And same... I'd like to live near Masky as well. Even though, she's not particularly easy to find unless she wants to be... and nearby Cybelline and Carafras aren't the best places to be...

Yeah, that was pretty much my source. I figured it was sort of... 'archetypally gypsyish'... for want of a better term.

(I do it during the class period in which it's assigned... Often get in trouble for that But you couldn't say I have a procrastination problem.)

It was a fun time She actually ends up seeing a lot of your stuff too... 'Musical Tastes May Vary' is one of her personal favourites Whenever she's around when I'm on here, she begs me to go back to that one. But anyway... I can be very flexible with things like places to live, interestingly, so I probably wouldn't do too poorly, even if it is a bad area. And there would still be a straight line of communication with you, even Esmeralda being your brainchild world.

I think it's great Still need a name for Twist's world, though... Mhara calls it the 'Farworld', she being a Seafarer, and interstingly enough, I've also heard her call it the Land of Masks and Mirrors. Inhabitants of that continent don't call it much of anything
