These are really fantastic; how do you get the white background, do you paint it out or remove the printed image from the card somehow? I'd like to try something like this myself . . .

I paint out borders with greys/blacks for the opacity, then add white paint over that after it dries. Erasing works, but it takes ages.

Mind if I ask another question? What type of paints do you use for the base coat(s)? I've tried several kinds and none seem to coat that well. I have to apply way more layers than I like and takes a lot of time . . .

Golden Fluid Acrylics. Black is probably the most opaque for the base coat, though I usually mix a grey to make the subsequent coats easier.
