Description 2009.

Model: April Johnston
Styling: An Le

This was my first fashion shoot. It was freezing cold, but we managed. April was a really great, even in the short dress and open-toed heels she didn't complain any more than the rest of us.
I'd like to do more of this (and I will) when it's warmer.

I've got a few more from the shoot that I'll be putting up, but I haven't decided how many.

Strobist: ABR Ringflash with 30" diffuser as a beauty light, high (very high) and to camera-left. Gridded and orange-gelled strobe low and behind model for rim lighting. Some light-painting with a flashlight during the 2-second ambient exposure to lighten up her black stockings.

I love it. The lighting, the scene, the pose... all gorgeous. I loved how some of the edges are soft too.

Nice stuff Chris. The job with the lighting is simply awesome. What I would say though is that she somehow isn't too dominant. The bridge on top and railing on bottom however are. I don't think that you can manage that with cropping but rather a different camera position would be necessary. Anyway I'm looking forward for more, certainly a good start.

Thanks, I really appreciate the feedback. She's definitely more a minimal part of the composition than in the others. I promise!

i think this turned out really good man, the soft edges actually work well, even the blurred dress bottom

Thanks man. I think this is the more dramatic of the poses, but there are others that are much sharper. I've got like 5 I can't choose from to show in class... Haha.

Oh crap, do you know what classes you're going to take?
