Very nice! We used to have a family of them around the neighborhood, but they left us last year and didn't come back

That's a shame. Hawks usually have a territory. Then migrate back to their orginal nesting sites, something had to have driven them away. One of the companies my roommate worked for actually applied to have the woods behind their building listed as a habitat, because they had a nesting pair, I used to see them wheeling through the skies all the time.
