And the precious little boy blue

Niribi foaled at 3am in the middle of a storm. The wind was howling and rain thunderous on the tin roof as the small chestnut colt was born. He seemed much darker when wet, but as he dried off the mousy chestnut coat started lightening and the soft peachy fuzz made him seem like an overgrown teddy bear. He was quiet but bright from the start. Eyes quickly focusing on both his dam and the people around him as he took in the big new world. He stood well and took his first drink before flopping down under his mothers belly and having a well earned break.

Soon it was realised that his favourite place to sleep was directly under his dam, but luckily for everyone's sanity, Niribi was an excellent mother and was very aware of her colts location and she took great care in where she put those powerful feet. She was incredibly attentive and her protective nature meant we pastured them away from Odyssey and Kirra so that the mothers and foals didn't clash. Kit (sometimes referred to as kitten) was a shyer foal than the other rambunctious hooligans. Far more interested in watching the madness rather than participating, he enjoyed racing the other foals and quieter pursuits, but an over eager roughhousing attempt would send him trotting back to safety to tuck himself under his mamas belly.

He is very curious and friendly with people however, and adores cuddles, butt scratches and naps in the sunshine with anyone visiting. He is one of the first foals to say hello and the last one to leave. He takes a while to investigate loud or fast moving objects, preferring to watch from a distance or prance in circles around them before gathering up the courage to have a sniff, but he doesn't bolt or flee unless chased. Due to this quieter and cuddlier disposition he has become a firm favourite with the kids that take lessons on the farm, as well as to the resident barn cat who is often found curled up on his neck as they nap together in the sunshine.

"Observant, friendly, gentle. Kit is a sweetheart to work with and thrives off interaction and reward based training. He finds loud and pushy horses rather tough to deal with and far prefers quiet company and a more sedate lifestyle. He is curious and eager to learn but can be slower due to his need to take time to get comfortable with new places and items. Once he has taken the time he is unflappable and very relaxed about anything you would ask of him. He shows fantastic gaits and a natural presence that makes him a delight to watch when he is in a playful mood. Although he does not take part in wrestling matches like the other foals, he is quite compact and powerfully built with excellent muscling for a young foal which really shows when he stretches out and gets moving.

We have high expectations that he will follow in his parents success in the dressage ring given his personality and movement. He will be tried over jumps due to the talent shown in his paternal line, but we believe his true talent will be in his flat work."
