Description there's a humming bird outside of my window,
i've named him after you.

he appears everyday when the sun sets
casting beautiful silhouettes that dance across
my honey coloured walls.

i strum my fingers in harmony with the
humming bird's song along my keyboard;
as i pour my heart out using mediocre words as vessels,
for every part of me that i can afford to give.
hoping that some of it reaches you, no matter how far away
or how lost you are. i want my words to find you,
to give that piece of me and keep you around for a little bit longer.

Silhouette has long been my favorite word. This is a lovely poem all around, I like the setting and the pained, but hopeful, intones of the last few lines.

The tension and longing are striking, to say the least.

"as i pour my heart out using mediocre words as vessels,"

So often i feel trapped by words, as though they desire to suppress my outbursts and hide my truths. I hate them, and love them all the same.

But your words, they are as fire. They melt, and warm, and sometimes burn, and i cannot leave them alone. Three times i have come back to this, and not until now have i managed to articulate a fraction of what i feel.

So sorry the hummingbird is gone now.

i know exactly what you mean, it's like we want our words to carry as much as we feel but they never can. and as such sometimes it's not enough. we don't have that ability to translate our heart song into everyday words.
