It sucked, but we did a great piece. Used the cardboard from the ice to make a sunscreen. Worked great.
Frankenmuth was good, I presume?

We had great temperatures this year, and we pulled off a nice piece. In the end, we took people's choice and 2nd place. Not too shabby.
Now we'll be getting ready for a sand sculpting event in a few months. I'm looking forward to that.

Oh my gosh, only three hours? That's a bit of a downer, but I guess that's something you get used to when you practice temporary art such as ice sculpting. I would get so sad every time my art melted! (I do that already with snowmen and such, haha...)
I love the abstract for of the ice skater. It took me a minute to see the figure, but I love art that really makes you look and think about it, rather than just letting you pass by and say "oh, it's an ice skater.". The composition is very aesthetically pleasing. Almost makes me wish it wasn't ice so I could put it in my home!

I'm tempted to make a permanent version. Sadly I cannot take credit for the work, as I was mostly just the "right hand" or "the shovel". The true direction came from Larry.
