Yes, she's an orca. I gave her gold-brown hair because that's what color hair my sister has. It does look somewhat out of place, but at the same time, I was mostly messing around with the concept in general, so I'm not really bothered by it.

Interesting....I've never seen an anthropimorphic whale with a human face before.

Yeah, she's not really an anth as much as she is a mer. At some point the line gets very fuzzy though ^^

Wow I wish I could do Photoshop work like that. How do you get the hair like that? How do you keep the line art in?

I drew the hair that way... the sketch itself was done in my sketchbook, then scanned into photoshop and colored. There are different ways to go about such things. If you're not familiar with the techniques, I certainly recommend the tutorials at PolyKarbon.com !

Thanks ^^
I have to go out and get it printed... I just finished editing the file so it would fill 8x10" so it will look nice in the frame^^ I can't wait for her to see it.

That's really nice... the hair is gorgeous! She's an interesting look, too; are those orca markings on her body? *luffs coloring* ^__^

Yup.... I made her an orca-mer. All I knew was that she'd have to be an orca... but so many of the 'anthro' versions of orcas I see are just orcas with arms and legs in addition to the tail... which doesn't bother me too much (given whales had back legs at one time) but I didn't see her that way. I tried to give her a dorsal fin, but it didn't look right, so I left it off, and I think it works pretty well.

Oh, I like it! I'm partial to aquatics, and she makes a lovely mermaid. I hope your sister likes it!

Heheh. She hasn't seen it yet... *peers in the direction of the hallway* She and her boyfriend just got in about an hour ago or so.... I'll have to go make a print of it today because my mom wants to frame it to give to her.
