Description: In the Quaternary period, many species of herbivorous megafauna died out. For example, elephants, rhinos, and hippos have all gone extinct by the Novicene. This extinction event was mainly due to overhunting by humans and climate change. However, this open niche caused other animals to evolve into this niche. One animal that evolved into this niche was the hartebeest, a large African antelope. These animals were able to survive the extinction event, but they just barely made it.
One descendant of the hartebeest is the bush renoster-bokke, a large rhino-like antelope. These gigantic antelopes are the heaviest animals of the Congo Savannah and have many adaptations for this lifestyle. One thing that they developed was the loss of hair on nearly all its body. The hairless state of this ungulate allows them to be larger without the risk of over-heating. The horns on the top of its head act like sharp spears which can pierce through aluminum. This antelope can skewer animals that don’t get out of the way.
The most surprising thing about these antelopes is that they have surprisingly great intelligence. They have a complex social structure that gives canines a run for their money. Usually, renoster-bokkes live in groups of twelve to fifteen individuals. However, these groups only consist of females and their babies. The males live all alone, only meeting with females during the breeding season. The only problem with their intelligence is that they don’t have the best senses. The renoster-bokkes have to rely on their smell and hearing to help them navigate the world. They can still solve problems like getting things from high places and can tell which animals are dangerous.

This is a redesign of the elephant antelope: www.deviantart.com/screensamur…

I thought to the original was to similar to the gigantelope of After Man.
