Description I noticed that, after having finished a full picture for each of the Toa of Misira Nui, my old drawings of them as Matoran were very outdated, so I put together some sketches with updates to their designs. Of course, now the pictures of them as Toa are slightly outdated in some ways...

I like these sketches! I have words to say but my brain is not cooperating much on making them organized so I'll just put them here in a bullet list:

--I like how you put your own spin on the anatomy of your Bionicle characters to make them seem so familiar and yet so alien at the same time.

--They all seem quite distinctive in their own way. It's been a while since I read about Misira Nui so unfortunately I've completely forgotten everyone's names, but I did at least know exactly who the Le-Matoran was.

--It's a bit hard to tell without color but I was able to identify most of their elements based on different features. For instance, I am assuming the first one on the top row is an Onu-Matoran because of the large claw-like hands, and the third one on the bottom row may be a Ko-Matoran based on the coat and boots. Again, it's because I have a hard time remembering names and details when it's not quite fresh in my memory.

--The mask designs look recognizable and yet not too complicated or weird, which is always a plus in my opinion. The only one which was a bit hard for me to make out was the second one on the top row, but I think it was more due to the sketch being a little dark in that area rather than the design itself.

--Based on your comment about the Matoran designs changing and how that might influence how they look as Toa, I actually think that's a cool (and sometimes annoying, admittedly) part about how characters evolve over time, especially after going a long time without drawing them. It'll be neat to see how their Toa forms will be different as a result of this. ^__^

Thanks for the feedback . Admittedly, much of this was trying to put their Matoran designs more in line with the Toa designs for later, but in the process I hit on one or two things that I might have to incorporate into the Toa designs. I do like to make Matoran vary greatly in physique based on their tribe; you hit correctly on the top left one being an Onu-Matoran (Oduna, specifically), but bottom right's not a Ko-Matoran. I haven't done an updated Ko-Matoran yet (another thing for the to-do list), but I'm thinking that they'd be pretty stocky and maybe a bit chubby on average to conserve heat. There's other things that can affect them too, though... there's a reason why the Fe-Matoran on the top right is unusually short. But all that will come with the story eventually.

Thanks! That one's of my own design.
