Awesome! I think the red works really naturally in the image even though it's the only colour 
And the tension in the face is incredible too; the way "mouth" looks so tight and raw and how the face looks like it's showing the aftermath of some horrible angry fit of knifing.

Self Portrait. Fascinating.
It's always interesting to see what one can do to one's own image. It says a great deal about how we think of ourselves. I wouldn't say that making yourself up to be like a monster says you think yourself a monster. I mean, that's the majority of what you make. Eerie things. That's your style, your niche in the art kingdom.
I love to see the things you crank out. I'm especially interested by this self-portrait. You're one of my favorite artists on DA because of your distinct style.

Awww! That really made me smile, thank you. Not to many people seem to notice that it is (based on anyway) me. I'm not sure what it says... To be honest, most of my art just puts me in a trance-like state with movie quotes/lyrics/thoughts about my life running through my head like the maddening noise of some gibbering machine... So I tend to fade out and just let my hands and eyes do the work, especially with watercolors (which I really need to pick up again). I think self portraits can really present what we are or what we want ourselves to be in a fabulously lucid way. I think that's why I try to have a surreal element to many of my pieces... It's more important to me to see what others take from my work that what I implied.. Gives the pieces life of their own apart from me, like setting horribly mishapen children free... I dunno.. I really appreciate you comment, and I'm happy you like my work.

This is schweet. I love the pose, the way something so grotesque almost looks as if it is recoiling from something much much worse. I love the way you used red for the face tentacles as well, a nice way to break it up. I'll leave you a short comment for once, coz it's nothing but praise.

i did a long post about my likes and dislikes, check in my journals
but overall. i won't say it was great. but it was okay. it wasn't bad. i didn't feel cheated out of my money as i did when I saw Hills Have Eyes. Now.. THAT sucked.
i got some major gripes with SH movie. Sharon kinda bothered me, the actress was a bit crap i thought... and i wasn't comfortable with Dahlia being a good guy of sorts. but i guess it was basically a different twist on the story. so i can except the dahlia thing. but sharon needs to keep her thumb out of her mouth

well...yes and no...
the "meow meow look at me i am a cat" was a bit cheese. but i can look past that because i have a 10 year old niece who use to do that. But how old was Sharon suppose to be in the movie???
And the I'm burning bit was complete CRAP of dialogue. i mean... wtf, don't tell me they couldn't come up with something better. I mean.... if sharon didn't say anything at all.. it would have been better than that.
but the thumb sucking at the end, during the car ride home, was annoying as fuck. Crystal and I just looked at each other like "......................................what..." the girl looked entirely too old to be sucking her thumb. Kids that suck their thumb when they are ten are the same kids you want to smother with their blankey.
anyway, so overall i would say that I was not happy with sharon...its a good thing that the majority of the movie is spent looking for her.
