Description This is another project done for school. We were required to choose a photograph, cut it in half and paint the one side, matching the colors as close as possible. This is my project. I have never painted anything like this in my life. I've done water color and tempra paints for large shapes...but never used gouche for such a detailed painting. When I told my teacher this, she was amazed. She gave me an automatic 100. Lol. And I forgot an important part to this project and she said I didn't have to worry about it...but she'd loved to see me do an entire painting from just my imagination. :3

But it looks much better on my canvas.

Maybe. Possibly. Hopefully.

She feels intelligent and talented. But that doesn't mean she is.

Mwahahaha!
GUESS WHAT!
I am so mad. >.<

I have regionals for bowling on March 5th! So I have to pick between BOC or bowling. Easy choice for most, but I don't want to leave my team down. And the worst thing is, the regionals are only a 1/2 hour from the show. BAH!
Singles are that day (which I will most likely not make), so I'm gonna talk to my coach and see if he'll let me go. My dad says he won't, but this oppertunity is way too good to let pass!

I will. I will.
My coach and I...we tight. XD He's a cool dude...hopefully he will understand how important going to as many BOC shows as possible is to me.

If he doesn't understand I guess I'd need to pay him a visit as well?

Nah. I like him. I'm gonna have to understand why he said no, if he does, before he'd have to understand why shows are important to me. The disadvantage to being a teen without authority.

I LOVE it! I thought you drew and colored the whole thing at first but then I saw the picture and the painted side! It's amazing!

Thank you!

My mom has it framed and in the living room (well, a copy of this, at least. The original is at school).

When I first saw it and read the comment you put it was difficult to distinguish which is the photo and which is painted. It's amazing work. I love using gouache paints, they give an amazing effect.

I think the painted side has more personality. It's like BAM! compared to the other side.

It's more tiger-like, if that's a word. It kinda expresses the ferociousness and wildness of the tiger, while the photograph is kinda soft..

This really is lovely, how long did it take you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sayhellotoart In reply to ThursdayPalemoon [2009-11-22 18:00:41 +0000 UTC]

Um, a rough estimate would be 7 hours...not consecutive, though. Is that long?

I have no idea, i never drew longer than 1 hour and a half, i'm wondering if that's the reason i... am not so good at it.

sayhellotoart In reply to ThursdayPalemoon [2009-11-23 03:09:07 +0000 UTC]

My drawing varies. It could take me 15 minutes or 3 hours. Depending on how focused I am. :3
Painting takes lots of focus, or it just gets annoying otherwise.

And you are good at it. XP
Don't kid yourself. Lol.
