...Apparently being wheelchair-bound, having a weak heart, and fearing that cops may be around isn't enough to keep Twinx from going to the Masquerade Ball: [link]She's been a wheelchair for a couple months now...But I've been too lazy to draw her in one until now. XD
Well that wheelchair did take me forever to draw, and it still looks awkweird. :/
See, since her heart is weakening, it's not able to pump enough blood into her legs. She's still waiting on a heart donor...Or a miracle. If not, she's due to die around November.
I'm so mean to my characters. XP
But yea, she figures that hey, I might die soon, why not have fun while I can instead of pitying myself? Yey for positive attitude!
Now if only she would always be like that...

i feel like beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, shades, and well needs. and the wheelchair itself looks fine to me ;3
have you ever seen a person in a wheelchair, crutches, or missing a limb in a magazine...? think about it :3

I don't see anything wrong with making characters in wheelchairs, I have several of 'em, and ones with a lotta other disabilities, as well. It actually makes for a great character

Yea, but then again we're only starting to get women with a little meat on them in magazines and such...It's gonna be a while until we get to people with wheelchairs and such, sadly. :/

im part of this peer group that covers a lot of youth issues, and one of my favorite activities is the day we focus on image in the media. once a friend and me noticed that they'd forgotten to air brush the entire model, and the poor thing had an off colored arm on the other page :f
being more like a guy in most regards id never even heard of these magazines, but it's good to be aware ya know???

There was a photo editor they interviewed that was a real artist in his own right that said the meat of what he was doing was just taking a false image and making a new one. he didnt support the way the media affects people, and really he felt what he was doing was making them "inhuman", which appealed to his other art styles.
i find the process really.. fascinating honestly. i hate how it's affected our culture, but i can't help but find the silver lining i spose :f i think they should have a little tag on each page with a site for how the models look naturally in casual clothes. then wed get both sides.

it used to be really in style for very wealthy yuppies to wear ratty gross clothes. i think it's still like that in some circles.
another thing a bunch of us noticed on media day was that the models used were "very" different depending on the target sex and ethnicity of the magazine :/
i feel like theres something wonderful in having pride in your "culture"(the elements of your life you'll really only share with certain people), but there should be more mixes and spectrum.
i mean miht faen, im of Mexican and Russian descent. and i don't identify 100% with either side. you can't appeal to the mutts of the world if yu deny they exist. One of my best friends is Ethiopian-Irish/Scottish, and another is English-American(yud be amazed how different that can be o.o).

And yea, I agree. More mixes! People should feel less "defined", IMO, by what they are. It should be more about who they are. :3

I have to say that on the coloring level this is beautiful! The way you've colored her dress and the way you've done Twix's mask-- she looks so purdy! Even in her wheelchair! Wheelchairs are HARD to draw. I used to mess up on them all the time when I would draw Barbara Gordon/Oracle in her wheelchair in the past. They're very tricky. You've done very well!

She's tried this spellbook, but the spell can only bring her back if she's been murdered...Since she's dying of something more natural, the spell doesn't work. XP
