Jerrod tells me cows and horses have so much insulating fat they can't feel the cold and their body heat doesn't get past that layer to melt the snow. So no worries.
I underexposed to get the sky and then lightened the photo later. I find it's always easier to bring whites back rather than try and bring color back from white.

i usually under expose a little bit on all my digital shots. Seems to work out better for me.
