yesterday i got a wonderful package of magic from which included a bunch of new prismacolors and so i had to drop everything i wasn't actually doing anyways and make her something with them.half way through coloring i remembered my scanner can't really differentiate between shades of red. i just shaded a lot and hoped it might pick up on it. it didn't. i tried to fix it in photoshop but couldn't really manage. so i'll just have to do something better some time. hoho.
anyways. this is Lyndz's character Colleen, who is friends with Duncan. yes, everyone is aware that not all irish people are redheads and or have freckles thanks for the newsflash, no one cares. i don't know if she's better or worse at dealing with the lovies than Duncan is (i'm assuming a wee bit worse) and i lost my train of thought as to where i was going with that. oh well. colleen has lovies is the point. i liked her eyes alright until i ruined them with the like crazy sasha rings in them and now they look weird. it seemed like a good idea at the time. i'm sure by tommorow i won't even be able to look at this picture.
Colleen belongs to , art's mine, no taking please thanks. inked w/ a micron, on bristol board for once! i always forget how nice bristol board is to work with but i'm too cheap to buy it often. colored w/ prismacolors. faving w/o commenting is boo and all that jazz. enjoy.

That's an awesome expression. I love the huge eyes and the slight cartoony-ish style to it. Her eyes look so shiny and sparkly. The pouty lip is adorable.

Really nice, I love how when you do headshots, you use the lines of the shirt as a border to where it ends, so it doesn't look like it sort of fades off into nothing. Just a small detail, but I like it. The hair shape here is especially lovely as well.

I kinda Sasha ring in her eyes, it gives more detail and some texture to her expression. Speaking of which, i love that face lol. Not just the freakles but her little nose and how you have her eyes looking up like she just doesn't care.
For teh scanner there is a way to fix it. Just take it out to a hard concrete floor. Take a hammer and start beating the thing. After you've assembled the bits and pieces together, show the remains to your parents and tell them: "It broke, I need a new one."

Now she is quite a beauty there, I dun care if "not all Irish are redheads" She's a fantastic example for redheads everywhere. ^^
Beautiful coloring. As for the scan raping it's colors, I think it looks pretty good, I can see alot of different reds in there, I really like how you used yellow/orange to highlight. ^^

Haha, stereotyping is annoying sometimes, but as I can plainly see here, you bring out the beauty and huggableness (is that even a word?) in the character. And regardless of whether or not all Irish have red hair among other things or not, I still find this to be a fantastic piece of art. ^^
I usually pay no heed to what the cliche or stereotype of a characters species/race/shape/ect ect is anyway, I go for a character that pleases me, and if said character is full of cliche, then so be it as long as they are a lovable character.

well, there are 3 of us who each have one prominent irish char who's redheaded and freckly. we all have other irishes that arn't redheaded or freckly but people don't seem to pay attention to those and just flip out when the redheads are drawn.
that aside redhair and freckles is awesome so more people should have them anyways.
