The contrast is beautiful, and the framing is just right. This is black and white as it should be. However, I feel like the building in the background was caught in the awkward middle-ground between being in focus and being out of focus. Do you have photoshop CS? If you do, you could tweak that in about ten seconds.

It's a kickin' new filter called lens blur (blur>>lens blur). The first thing to do is to make a layer mask which masks off all the area that you want to blur. Then shift click on the mask to disable it, run lens blur and set it as a depth map. With a little tweaking, you will be able to blur the background (complete with totally realistic expanding highlights) but not the foreground. Then when you're done you can chuck the mask.
