Do you adjust the painting to accommodate the folds of the paper (so it looks "normal" when viewed straight-on)? It looks like you did, but I'm not sure. It is very well done!

While I think that all the fans in your gallery are amazing, this is my personal favourite. There's something about the details that went into the flames and fur that sets this fan apart. This really needs to be part of the lineup of Okami's official merchandise. Fantastic work!

O: Ahh gorgeous~ I love the shading on Ammy and the flames are beautiful! This one is one of my favorites of your fans I think~
The calligraphy was definitely a good choice as well, it adds quite a lot and it nicely balances the fan.

Thank you! This is definitely one of my personal best fans as well. Some of the newer techniques I tried worked out really well (so did that new brush), I think, and I'm itching to make some new ones now, perhaps this weekend.

Eh, you don't really need the parchment, just some smooth paper that holds water well. I have a pack of gasenshi and rarely use it... maybe I should, though, and just do some calligraphy sometime... I really enjoy it. It's very relaxing, even if it's hard.
The brushes do take a while to get used to, but once you do they're wonderful. I don't know what kind of kit you have, but it helps to have a variety of stiffnesses. That probably matters even more than size for sumi brushes.
Thank you!

Yeah, no need to get all the supplies at once... thankfully, Chinese/Japanese painting supplies tend to be cheaper than most Western analogues, but I think it's the tendency of Asian painters to collect supplies for aesthetic value, so it probably works out about the same. XD Ink sticks are really fun, but I only have a few cheap ones. (I really ought to use them more, though. Honestly, my favorite calligraphy implement is the ink stone...)

Your fans are so darn pretty! : D I have the one I got from you - and a bigger one with tigers on it from a store in the city. I like the one from you better. :3 They're so unique and pretty. <3 And durable - the one you gave me seems to be stronger than the one I bought!

Your welcome! And yes - they don't even dent really. I mean - I think you'd have to try on purpose to hurt the ones that you make. But like the one I bought has a couple of crinkles and stuff - almost like it's going to fall apart even though I have done nothing bad to it. xD

Heh. Well, that's why I started buying these instead of the bigger white ones I used to use. The size was nice, but they were really cheaply made and I felt bad selling them to people. These darker ones are fantastic, though.

That's what I like about the smaller ones. I know a lot of people put them on their walls anyway, but I love functional art.~
