Wonderful drawing, the way Boromir holds himself, and the tree coupled the falling leaves really puts a huge emotional and psychological force behind your work. Nice!

I really like the understated colours, there's really something too them to be said, but I can't think of the right words! well, If I could, they'd be very flattering

thank you very much! Yes, I like to do watercolours that are more subtle and unassuming, much like looking through an old book. Thanks for commenting!

good colour philosophy! I always use such intense colours, and it's nice to see a change!

you're very welcome!

to be honest, I really like your colour use. When pure intense colours are laid down well, it looks great. As for me, I'm still not comfortable with using colours, so that could be why my work looks subdued.

Looks great! It is full of emotion, and very well done. I like the detail of the leaves falling, according to his mood.

thank you very much! I loved drawing and shading his hair -- I wanted it to be close to Sean Bean's in the film, but longer.

How do you combine watercolor and pencil? Beautiful, remarkable talented, as always.

Sir-Catherine In reply to Sir-Catherine [2007-02-04 18:20:38 +0000 UTC]

And the colored pencil sticks over the watercolor? Interesting. I'd heard of brushing watercolor over crayon to fill in gaps left by quick crayon strokes, but not putting down the water color first.

SarawenArt In reply to Sir-Catherine [2007-02-04 17:33:35 +0000 UTC]

Thanks very much!

I do this type of mixed media in three steps: 1) lay down the underlying drawing with H graphite pencil. 2) apply the watercolour on top of that 3) apply more details over over the watercolour using coloured pencil and/or graphite.
