Description
I am currently traveling in Ukraine and on my way to Israel. By the city of Kyiv, oustide in the country called Putrikva, there is a Jewish Refugee House, for Jewish Ukrainians who have had to leave their homes in the east where there is war. At the house, if they are able to provide documents, they can make their return to Israel.

Here my family and I have stayed for the past few weeks learning the lesson of the Ukrainian lifestyle. A family of five in a tiny room with bunk beds and a pitiful painting of Israel as its one decoration on the wall.

As an American and not being a refugee, I wondered what I could give to them that would not be trite or condescending, so naturally...I turned to my trusty paint and brushes and painted for them this portrait of prayer.
