I may not live in Washington state anymore, but I did for twenty-three years and I was so grateful to have been able
to vote 'yes' for marriage equality during my last year as a resident. The fact that it passed made my heart very happy.

This little graphic (although quite belated) celebrates the great strides made for civil rights in the state that I call home.

The words "Proud by Choice" typically refer to being proud of being part of the LGBT community, but I feel like this phrase
can extend beyond the community and apply to the political vote for equality, i.e. Washington voters chose to be proud.

Drawing the state's silhouette was a pain, but I'm glad that I have a very large version of Washington for future use, lol.
I modified the existing Pride Flag colors to suit a more vintage look… and also because I've always found the original colors
too jarring, purely from a graphic design standpoint. The white, speckled texture over-top is meant to mimic specialty paper.

I'm considering making this into a series that follows all of the states thus far in support of marriage equality, so stay tuned!
