This Kirin is gift art for . I sure hope you like it, M&M!

As you can see, this lineart mirrors my lineart for Stormbreaker (featured here: [link] ) but has undergone a major transformation into a Kirin.

Of course, the unicorn horn has been replaced by a curved protrusion, as is tradition with Kirins. The nose has been equipped with a small curving horn as well.

When compared side-by-side with the Stormbreaker lineart, more hair was added: under the chin, at the elbows, along the backbone, and around the groin. The tail was completely redone. It is now serpentine and covered with tuffs of hair. The hooves have become cloven hooves! So cute. I love it to death.

I traced my original lineart for Stormbreaker and then flipped the image so that it was running the other direction. That way it’s not too similar.

There will be a colored version of this image in the future. I will add scales to the creature then. I didn’t want to add scales to this for fear of ruining the lineart, but when I color him I will make sure that he has scales on the lower neck, shoulders, and back, as is custom with Kirins.

Feel free to color him! Make sure and download the larger version if you plan on doing that. The image I have for downloading is ridiculously nice quality.

The design for this Kirin is ©Me. He is my creation and my lineart.

Drawn January 7, 2007.

*screams with delight* You my Kirin!!! I am so grateful. Can I hug you now? I think I will.

Oh, and Natalie's not coming on the field trip tomorrow. And it looks like I'm not either. Out here in Monroe, we've got over six inches of snow already and are basically stranded. It took us an hour to drive home from Carnation. Rediculous!
So, if you're still going, I hope you have a FANTASTIC time without us. Be brave!

Hey, and if you're not going on the field trip, you should totally come over to my house and play in the snow. I'm warming up Chester (my quad) and will use him to tow people on sleds (so incredicly epic!), so you should tag along and be crazy with us. Dude... last time, I almost died of funness-overkill. Yes, it can happen.

Of course! He's so excellent!
Haha... We didn't go either. There's a foot on the ground right now... I'd love to come to your house, but we're pretty stranded too. And I think SeaJay and Sarah have dibs on me today (they woke me up by leaping onto (the sleeping) me with very loud roars. I am going to KILL them.
OMG funness-overkill?? Craziness!

Thank you! I thought you might enjoy the little Kirin. He's outrageously cool, omigod.

Weeee! That's so awesome that you want to color him.
Coloring is just about as fun as actually drawing the image yourself.
Often times, I'm so damn tired of the image that I spent 3+ hours creating that I loathe the thought of coloring it. So the lineart just sits there forever. Sad, huh?

So it's beautiful that other people want to color my lineart. Because frankly, I don't have the to, lol.

By the way, I will take your advice and make the ears more bat-like and add little whiskers. So adorable!!!

He IS outrageously cool. O.M.G. .... !!!
I do I do I do! I just need a printer to print him with. That's so tragic that you get sick of your linearts! That should never happen. I love looking at the colored versions! You do them so gloriously. Oh! Oh! Speaking of which, you need to email me my colored Stormbreaker.
YYYAAAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!!!! Bat-ears and whiskerses! So excellent!

SaraChristensen In reply to Xaliandrea [2007-01-12 04:02:10 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm. I could print him for you, if you'd like. I'm good at that! It's mindless, I'm good with mindless tasks.

Yeah, after spending so much time on the linearts, it's like, "Why spend another billion hours coloring it?" I'm disgusted by the mere thought. Then, you know, three months later I ask myself, "Why didn't I ever color this? This would look so spectacular colored!" And I do it then.

Gawd, the colored versions take forever with colored pencils, but now I've got this miraculous erasible colored pencils and they make life so much easier. I think I'll have a better time with them than the 'permanent' ones. *twitches at the thought*

I didn't send you your stormbreaker yet! What a terrible friend I am, I'll get right on it. Thanks for the poke, lol.

Yeah, Riverview was totally cancelled today, so no one went on the field trip. I don't think school will be closed again tomorrow though (which sucks), but at least we got today off. Kven came over and we played in the snow. He broke Chester and my sled. It was an accident... I forgive him. So yes, you missed some funness-overkill today, but hopefully next time you can join in on the fun! *crosses fingers*

Did I mention how much I LOVE this new album by Three Days Grace?!

Xaliandrea In reply to SaraChristensen [2007-01-13 10:34:59 +0000 UTC]

You totally should... Go mindless tasks!

Haha. With me, see, my printer sucks, so I have to make my lineart SO DARK. Me being the queen of invisibly-light graphite, it makes prepping a sketch for coloring nasty to the extreme. *shudder*

Ooh, eraseable! Excellent! I'm not that much of a perfectionist, though. Okay, I am, but not like you. If I screw up and color somewhere I shouldn't have, I just incorperate it into the thing... Or figure I'll pull it out in photoshop.

Haha, you terrible person for not sending me my picture... just kidding. It's totally fine, don't worry about it.

Yay, no school! I should totally frolic with you next time. Kven broke... Chester? Wait, isn't that your dog? No, that's Harley. I'm so confused!

SOMEONE's a freak... Just kidding, sorry... I haven't heard it. Bring it to school next week?

SaraChristensen In reply to Xaliandrea [2007-01-13 18:42:35 +0000 UTC]

I'm so sorry your printer's sucky. It happens to the best of us. Go get an HP or a Canon printer. Those are most excellent.

Even if you aren't as bad of a perfectionist as me , those erasible colored pencils are still rediculously brilliant.

I'm sorry that your picture never got through to you! Maybe I used the wrong email address. I have two email addresses for you, I'll try sending it to both and see what happens... But I swear that this picture will in fact get to you before the weekend's end!!!

Kven broke my quad, whose name is Chester, lol. Yes, I've named my quad. Funny story actually, I'll have to tell you about how Chester got his name.

Supposing we even HAVE school this week (due to ), I'll bring a burned copy of Three Days Grace for you to pirate off me. I do love sharing music. But Three Days Grace is perfect. I love every song on both of their albums, they just can do no wrong. Love it.

I Think it IS an hp; but its scanning capabilities suck so bad... Speaking of scanners, I DID get your email with my Stormbreaker in it, but the color on the body didn't pick up! *sob* I hate scanners. If we ever have school again, bring it back and I'll try it on mine, or photograph it. A picture at least should get the body color (it's SO light...). That's assuming we ever have school again, of course. If we do, definitely bring me a copy of your Three Days Grace cd. I like a lot of their stuff, but I haven't heard their latest cd.
Haha, you named your quad? I have to know.

w00t. Forgot to tell you about Chester. *laughs dementedly at herself*

Last year, my family had been talking about getting two pigmy goats. So adorable!
Dad wouldn't allow me the pleasure of a horse (he thought I wouldn't have time for one *growls*), so my sister and I voted for pigmy goats. Mom loved the idea, and so we decided on getting some eventually.
We're not getting goats now because we're moving again... *cries inconsolably*

Last Christmas (2005), there was a rumor going around my house about some "big gift" for my sister and I. We always get one main present for Christmas, something really special for each of us. I decided to question Mother to death until I could figure out what it was... my initial thought was "Omigod, they're so getting us goats! That, or it's a horse."

I asked Mom various questions, trying to get info out of her.
"Is it cute?" "I guess so..."
"Is it alive?" "Well, kinda..."
"Can I ride it?" "You could..."
Then I basically freaked out and said, "IS IT A LITTLE PYGMY GOAT NAMED CHESTER?!?!?!?" She just laughed at me and said no. Poop...

Even after all that, I still didn't know what it was. So Christmas morning, Dad took my sister and I out into the garage and pulled the tarp off of a black-red-silver quad (it's only a 110, don't get excited - though SeaJay got pretty rediculously excited over it, you might too). I just about died, because I wasn't expecting it. Then I was hit with an epiphany: "We should call it Chester!"

So officially, our little quad is known as "Chester the Road Messer." Brilliant story, no? LOL. That's how my quad got its name.

I'm so sorry, dude. My sympathies for your scanner issues.

I noticed that! I was like, "Gawd, stupid scanner. You're supposed to be uber and pick up every possible detail." I tried enhancing the color after I uploaded it, and that's as far as I got.

Oh yeah! I could totally take a photo of your Stormbreaker. I'll do that tonight and get back to you with the results... DUN DUN DUN. *suspense*

Ha, school. I laugh in its face. Like we're ever going back there again, what with all this beautiful weather. By the way, how you holding up at the top of your hill? Can you even get DOWN your hill? Are you stranded?!

Three Days Grace's first CD was rad, I loved it. And now their second CD is even more rad, so of course I have to convert EVERYONE IN SIGHT into Three Days Grace fans if they aren't fans already. I've been sucessful with one person, we'll see how you turn out.

Ya, my scanner doesn't seem to want to let me actually adjust ANYTHING, so yeeeaaahhhh... Methinks photography is the way to go.

Wow, this is old. Well, I can get down my hill NOW....

Three Days Grace!! Yeeeeeeeeeeee..... *coo*

You're so welcome! I'm glad you him, that makes me so happy inside.

Just you wait, I'll color him one of these days and he'll be too excellent for words. BAM!

I haven't heard anything about school being cancelled tomorrow. Secretly, I hope they do...
It's snowing hard over here, and Kven says it is in your beck of the woods too, so maybe they'll cancel on us. That would be so splendid. If not, I should totally fake sick.
