I tend to steal all sorts of junk food from my mother. Even if I eat the last donut, it is usually for the best.

My mom works at a bread factory store...Donuts are a surplus...Then again, I'm picky about donuts. I'm no fan of jelly-filled donut, but I'm a cream-filled donut girl.
I'm fond of chocolate dipped and maple glazed.
Once an aroma is set off during dinner preparation, I get up to investigate and bask in whatever is cooked once I get to the kitchen.
(Yes, my sense of smell is that of a bloodhound. My mother also has it.)
Long story short, NO TREAT OR SWEET GETS PAST ME! MUWAHHAHAHA!

I can usually ferret out sweets if they're nearby XD I think they call to me with their little voices: "Eat meeeee....eat meeeee..."

I'm a Jersey girl with a food addiction...Your call.
(Note: I typically say this to deter people from taking my food. In case you didn't know, there are memes going around about the ferocity of women from New Jersey. Trust me, I'm pretty ferocious when hungry, unmedicated and it's that time of the month. This actually once happened. I still can't forgive the woman who withheld my food and a chance to meet a Blue Angels pilot. Ms. Nelson from 7th grade is still on my shortlist after 13 years.)

Maybe the ferocity comes from the idea that everyone from Jersey is Italian?

No...that can't be the only reason, as we also have a rather Catholic population, regardless of nationality. Between 37% to 40% of the New Jersey population is Catholic.
If you ever seen "The Blues Brothers", a film approved by the Vatican during the previous Pope's reign, the old-school nuns were ferocious with either your standard 12in ruler or break out the 100cm meter stick to smack the offending student across the back of the hand. Nowadays, this practice has fallen out of favor with modern school as it is a form of corporal punishment in the eyes of the law.
I'm Catholic from my father. (He's had his fair share of smacks)
But as I'm also part Jewish from my mother, and Jewish women are to be feared more than Jewish men.
1.) They will do anything for a deal of any sort. (Money doesn't always factor, but when it does, frugality reigns supreme)
(The difference between frugality and cheapness is getting the lowest price for high quality in frugality and doing without in cheapness)
2.) They've survived their people almost being annihilated to total destruction.
(My great-grandma Sofia left Poland in 1939 and smuggled herself out of the country to America.)
3.) They've fought hate groups and even the insensitive "Hams for Hanukkah" gaffe in a circular.
(Joseph Green, a strongman who survived childhood illness, fought the Nazis and the KKK on regular occasion with pure insanity and lived to age 96, after succumbing to cancer. As for the "Hams for Hanukkah"? That was a real incident.)
In short, ferocity is not defined by nationality, but religion can play a healthy factor.

We have a large proportion of Catholics here, too, but it's still pretty mixed. I've heard the same kinds of horror stories from other private schools, religious or otherwise. Corporal punishment in public schools was only stopped comparatively recently.
That's an interesting and historically fraught mix- Jewish and Catholic. Strangely, I've heard some of the same stereotypes about Jewish women (Jewish mothers) applied to Chinese mothers, Scottish mothers, Waldensian mothers and several other groups. If you've ever heard of a book called "How to be a Jewish Mother" it's both hilarious and true, because it asserts that one doesn't have to be Jewish or a mother to be a "Jewish mother". Many things inform the traits of a people ^^

Mom is mostly Christian, her grandmother was a full Polish Jewish woman.
My mother tries hard to soften her austere stance.
