It reminds me of an alternate world I was working on a couple months ago, where a Hanoverian succeeded to the throne who greatly increased British influence in northern Europe, creating a somewhat similar colonial situation, although replacing Denmark and Sweden with Britain-Hanover and Prussia.

In this TL there is a dynastic and political Union between Britain and Denmark which led to the use of the Danish word.
