Yes, just imagine a hunt like that. It must've been both cruel and amazing to watch.

Beautiful shot. ^.^
Much as I love the Russian wolfhounds, I live the Irish more...because there's something about them that calls to me.
I had the opportunity to get an Irish wolfhound recently; a dog whose owner chouldn't take him with him overseas. I wanted to so badly, but my parents wouldn't let me.

Thank you!

That's parents for ya, I know all about it. But in the end they are often right.

Irish Wolfhounds are great dogs. All I've met are so friendly and sweet.

ShariiHartt In reply to SaNNaS [2009-04-07 08:05:09 +0000 UTC]

You're more than welcome.

Well, yes. Mine do have a point; I'd have to take a dog like a wolfhound to school with me if I wanted to give it enough excercise and company, and unfortunately the school won't allow that. ^.^

All I've seen or heard about the Wolfhounds is very good.
I also had the pleasure of meeting a Bernese Mountain Dog recently. He was enormous, but so soft and placid. He was drawing a lot of attention though. xD Especialy since it was at the mall/marketplace/thingy.

SaNNaS In reply to ShariiHartt [2009-04-07 16:09:49 +0000 UTC]

Bernese mountaindogs are wonderful dogs. My former dog Rocky was part bernese and he was the perfect boy in every situation. I really like the breed but they have quite a few health problems. And here in Sweden they are common and I am a rare-dog-lover

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ShariiHartt In reply to SaNNaS [2009-04-24 13:25:23 +0000 UTC]

All of that is very true. ^.^

And I can imagine; they're built like a dog that might be prone to things like hip problems and arthritis?

Perhaps I should go to Sweden and bring a puppy back over...they'd probably be easier to find than over here in Australia...then again, the quarantine to get an animal into the country is quite a pain. xD
Maybe I should stick to cats for a while. The one I've got now is adorable, and we literally got her off the street.
Besides, I might have problems if I went for a big dog right away...the two I have now are chihuahuas.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SaNNaS In reply to ShariiHartt [2009-04-29 17:23:03 +0000 UTC]

If I am not mistaken Sweden is one of a few countries where the rules are not as strict for you if you want to import a dog.
A friend of mine brought three Tibetan Mastiffs with her from Europe to Australia and I remember her telling me about the quarantine rules. Very strict!

Hey, you can always make two bernese mountaindog costumes for your chihuahuas and then you're all set! At least for when the longing for a fluffy pup grows too big

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ShariiHartt In reply to SaNNaS [2009-05-08 07:25:44 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Australia has to have strict quarantine though, I suppose, because it's land was isolated for so very long and there are plants and animals here that exist nowhere else in the world, and it needs to be protected...

xD I can just imagine my parent's faces if I did that. my dogs would hate it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SaNNaS In reply to ShariiHartt [2009-05-10 11:47:10 +0000 UTC]

Yes, you are right - it's a good think that there are such strict rules and regulations to protect the wildlife, but it's sad from a doglovers point of view.

Haha, well make the costumes for you parents then XD

The Russian Wolfhound is a fave of mine, and my dads is the Irish Woldhound. That might be why I liked it to much.
