Beautiful picture. I love seeing black dogs in the snow. He definately has a mastiffy face, at least from what I'm used to seeing. I usually keep company with the English ones. I haven't seen much in the way of Tibetian mastiffs.

My Zodd is of the heavier type of Tibetan Mastiff (TM). This type was kept as guardians by the monasteries in Tibet. They wanted the dogs to be as big and imposing as possible.
The more common varitey of TM is much smaller and without such a heavy and wrinkled face and were used as shepherds on the plains.

No, they all go under the name Tibetan Mastiff and are bred together, but they are VERY different from eachother even if there are similarities as well.
I always feel like the odd one out when I bring Zodd to dogshows, he is one of a kind here in Sweden, at least at the moment. The smaller ones were the ones that arrived to Europe first, so the larger ones are still quite new here in the west.
