Description Here is my Phoenix for the Great Plushie Contest! This is the fur and feather version for which the felt version was a prototype. He is made out of longpile fur. I used a red faux suede for the underwings and long tail feathers. He has real feathers for the crest, wingtips and tail, the beak is handmade out of sculptyIII, and his eyes are acrylic as are the gems on his tail. He is wired from beak and through all three tail feathers, and through both wings so he is poseable. He is approx. 24 inches long with a 14 inch wingspan and took me about 18 hours to make.

My lord. That's absolutely flaming incredible.
The phoenix is so under-appreciated. -.-;
I'd kill for one of those.

I highly applaud you for your creativity and skill.

Thank you much!
I do take commissions, but they are rather expencive since they take me 30+ hours to make just one.

Is he for sale?

Yes, I do sell the phoenixes. This one has already found a home. I do custom orders. They run about $65 +shipping

Wow! I am interested, though I can probably only come up with about $30 by the end of the next two weeks before my next car-payment is due. If you'd be interested in a partial trade, I have many items you may find useable on My Journal (link in my Sig.)

Honestly, I'm a bit disturbed by some of the stuff. The peacock feathers sound interesting, though you can get them for a buck at most ren faires and some flea markets, just so you know.
Shipping is about $10 because of the size, so that would leave $20 for the plush. Add 50 of the peacock feathers and you got a deal. I'll take the shorter ones since most people prefer the long ones. Do they all have eyes? Or are there swords too? I presume they are natural colored. I don't care for the bleached and dyed ones.
If this is of interest let me know and I can send you my mailing info and get the order specifics. -S

Sure, send me an e-mail or a note with the specifics and an addy!
I will have 50 of the finest peacock feathers tubed and ready to ship! All of them have big eyes and the wispy feather-hairs attached (all are about 35"long). Natural coloured, no weird dying.

(sorry if some stuff may be disturbing. I use whatever is left over from roadkill/farms/my taxidermy studio. It's not uncommon to see me surrounded by crows either- got one to trust me for the past 3 months since I moved to CO!)

Thanks a Bunch!

I'll e-mail.
I think taxidermy is very neat and I have critter pieces running around here too. The exotics querk me though. Too many endangered animals.
No need to apologise. My own problems. Alas, the work you are doing today may be the only way the future generations may get to see some animals!
OK, the crow thing is cool. i like crows and ravens. You should try to take some pics!

Ok! I'll check my e-mail!

Yeah, I wish I had a digicam to take pics! I have film, but no scanner. And when WalMart does that PictureCD thing.... the resolution and lighting is all screwy! I try to Photoshop as much as I can!

ok, that sucks. I guess I take my scanner for granted.

magpiesmiscellany [2006-03-21 04:03:48 +0000 UTC]

the beak is wonderful. it gives him an intelligent yet cranky expression 'look, albus, if you and harry ever actually shared info, voldemort would be toast.' i'm not sure about the fabric on the tailfeathers. they look a little fingerish i like the added sparkle though.

Hah! Ain't that the friekn truth. lol
I'm debating on going with a rounder, more peacock looking feather. Next one maybe...
