The left cheek looks a bit low, move it a few pixels up and it will be fine. everyone else has mentioned other thingd, so i think its good. Her eyes are pretty ^_^

I think Lynn pretty much summed up everything with her redline that
I was thinking, so I'll leave it at that. xD But otherwise, it looks great - I love
the style. <3

When I went into are class to learn to draw humans my teacher told me the ear should be between the top of the eye and bottom of the nose. Hope that helps. ^^

it looks pretty good to me but i would try bringing the eyes a bit closer together, they look to far apart. other than that i would recomend giving more detail/shape to the nose. looks great otherwize the eyes are beautiful

I really do like your style in humans anyway sam, but if you want some help....
maybe the nose can be the SLIGHTEST bit thinner-looking, maybe the ear could be just a little rounder, and the eyes just a TAD smaller. :3
but over-all, I LOVE the hair and the way you colored the eyes, and the lips look so.... REAL for a cartoon pic 8O

Houndoom2005 [2008-04-20 12:53:07 +0000 UTC]
Ok, this is awesome. Kay.
But lets see. Humans are not alike to canines, and I see in your canines they have wide foreheads, well, the bit between the eyes.
Anyways, The eyes are a tad to far away from each other. Also. I suggest drawing an oval shape then draw aliened line's across the face. Just so you can play around with the detail.
If anything is hard to draw, try and find other drawings, like for lips/ears so on.
Great drawing.

This is amazing, Sam. c: I personally can't see anything wrong with it, but what do I know? xD
I agree with the Anastasia thing though. I've always prefered the drawings on there much more than any other disney film. x)

UHHHH Iunno if it's been said yet but the top of the ear should line up with the eyebrows and the bottom of the ear lines up with the bottom of the nose C: that's all I can think of..
I think you draw people just fine >_> I like the style. Pshhh

All I can really say about this is that the eye is a bit too big and the cheek is too pointy.
Otherwise, lovely.

the problem i have with it is that it looks like it's a very human anthro pic, like her ears are trying to turn into elf or bat ears, and her eyes are waaay too cat like, if they were smaller and less upturned at the corners and the ear was rounder and not so narrow on the lobe, i think you'd be much closer to a great human face. But hey, I'm not much of an artist when it comes to humans or anything haha. That's my opinion though.

the ears are pretty high up and the neck looks weird to me, the way it goes into the chin i guess? i have to say that references really helped me when i was first starting out drawing humans... you should first practice doing some realism from references or from real subjects. or look up a guide online about how to draw faces and anatomy and that kind of thing, looking at diagrams of the proportions really helps (me at least). also, having an anatomy book hanging around for when you're really stumped is never a bad idea. i have a really old one with the cover falling off that my art teacher was giving away and it works fine.
and if you want to work towards that certain style, tracing for practice or referencing pictures from the movie would be fine as long as you didn't copy exactly or claim what you traced as your own and blah blah blah but i'm sure you know that
lol this is an unusually long comment for me... xD

You see a difference between Anastasia and other Disney movies because Anastasia isn't Disney. It's by Don Bluth. Don Bluth's other movies include An American Tail, The Land Before Time, All Dogs Go To Heaven, Thumbelina, The Pebble and the Penguin, and Titan A.E.
That said - the eyes need to be lowered a little bit, and her left (our right) brought in slightly closer to the bridge of her nose, unless you want them to be really wide-set like Jasmine's are. Her nose isn't quite perky enough - it looks a little like the tip of it has been smooshed. Her mouth is a little too low in her chin, and her ear is too high (the top of the ear should line up with the outside corner of the eyes).
Also, if you're going for the Disney-esque, her hair should be pieced a bit more, which sounds odd. What I mean is that chunks of bangs should have lineart making them clearly separate from the rest of the hair, because otherwise it blends together oddly.
Example: [link]
See how the curve of her bangs has been lined off from the rest of her hair? This helps us distinguish what shape her hair actually is.
Cheers!

The closest eye is too big, but the ear and lips in contrast are too small. The lips should be longer, not so petite.

joobli-bunni [2008-04-20 02:14:57 +0000 UTC]
the ear should be bigger i think and if you get rid of the pink stuff in the corner of the eye, i think it'd look better
and the part of the face that juts out below her right eye shouldn't jut out so far....
i hoped i helped n__n

yeah, everything else looks real nice, just fix up the eyes and you're good to go.

Not bad. I don't think anyone has mention the upper lip. It's darker than the bottom. Keep at it. I'm doing the same as you now. lDDD
Working on humans that is. Everything I draw comes out looking like a canine. I'm a sad case. xD

I actually got the darker upper lip idea when I was looking at [link] earlier XD;;; but looking at other pics from the movie now it's...not like that. >n>
but I feel your pain xD I can't draw anything without it resembling a canine in some way.
butyes thanks!

I love it, the only things I would change are I'd move her nose up a just a bit and make her eyes both going in the same direction. Other than that it's just as beautiful as your other works. Two thumbs up.

the eye on the right could be pushed inwards a bit more.. and if you DONT want anime then I suggest making the eyes smaller.
the nose is great!! round is good

Anastasia was my fucking FAVORITE MOVIE EVER. I still know all the songs by heart. ANYWAYS
It's a Don Bluth film or w/e. AKA Watch Titan AE and like.. the people in All Dogs Go To Heaven. A lot of people use that style.. The Anastasia one D:

If you want to replicate that style, honestly tracing is the way to go. I'm probably going to be burned horribly for using that word positively, but its true. As long as you don't claim what your tracing as your original piece, obviously, it can really help with anything. Even in realism, tracing 100 hands or feet can potentially help you better understand the anatomy.
So even for Anastasia's style, by tracing stills from the movie or something you can probably get a better idea on how the eyes, noses, mouths, etc. are shaped in that style. Or at least you might learn a lot faster than just eyeballing the pictures.
Other than that, I don't really know what advice can be given for that specific style from anyone who's not one of the animators hah

Samwich In reply to Araceli [2008-04-19 23:49:33 +0000 UTC]
you shouldn't be burned for that, I'm pretty sure a lot of artists do that for help but don't want to admit it. xP heck, I trace dogs all the time, I just don't submit them and try to just apply what I traced to a new picture. I don't know why tracing didn't cross my mind for this.. haha thanks for reminding me! XD <3 I just hope I could find good enough shots or pictures to help.
