I wonder how many people have actually seen the film.
I have it on DVD, and while it has some nice animated moments, there perhaps is a reason why it has been forgetten. It had a lot of ambition, but the execution in the end especially when it comes to story isnt quite there?
You added lovely a bit like Batman Animated Series colour palette here, I cannot remember if the film had such at any point. I remember it was fairly traditionally coloured.

I have a soft spot in my heart for the movie. I appreciated how "grown up" it felt; characters had more naturalistic voices rather than silly, cartoony ones. Also, the background paintings are gorgeous, and I love it for Frazetta's involvement. Plus, it has barbarians riding pterodactyls! Props to Bakshi for getting this thing made.
Funny you mentioned BTAS! It wasn't intentional, but that show's style was and is a big influence for me; I couldn't draw anything all through high school without it looking like a really awful Bruce Timm knockoff.
