that's for sure!! a friend of mine has been in the hopital 3 times with salmonela (from the love bites her iguana gave her) !!!

It's more then likely not the bite that is giving her salmonela. That is carried in their feces (if they have an out break of it). She probably isn't really keeping him clean enough or not washing her hands after she handles him and that is probably how she is getting it. Has she treated him for it? If she keep getting it from him the only way she can prevent future infections is to take him to the vet and have him treated for the bacteria. I have had herptiles since I was 6 yrs old (am now 30) and I never got sick from any of them. The key is to keep them and their enclosures clean and to always wash your hands after handling them.
Iguanas just don't make good pets for the average person b/c they need a lot more space and training then people are told they do when they see these cute little babies in pet stores. They actually need a whole room dedicated to them to be kept happy and healthy. I had sectioned off part of my living room for mine! Their is a lot more to it but I don't want to write a book about it. LOL

Actually, she moved and I have no idea what things are like now, but I do remember the fact that he didn't live in a cage, he seems to have control over the whole house (I did not go to her house)

I don't like it when dogs sleep in the bed with their owners. VERY bad b/c the dog can develop a lot of behavioral issues if you let them sleep with you. Plus if you have a husband or wife what kind of privacy to you have with each other when there is always something else in bed with you? I love my herptiles but not that much! CRAZY!

It was probably liking it b/c it was nice a warm since they can't regulate their own body temp. Even with my love for herptiles I would NEVER let them sleep with me.
