It's Inferno Titan, but I believe this version of the art only exists on a promo edition.

A truly beautiful card. Your style reminds me distinctly of Raymond Swanland and his cards, I would suggest looking them up for further study.

Wish you luck, and congratulations!

Sick, and congrats dude, with art like this I can't wait to see your next few. Is this from Core Set 2012?

samburley In reply to Xoros1364 [2011-07-06 06:05:33 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. Not sure what set it's in. It's one of three promos players can receive for buying the new Magic game on PS3, XBox, and PC. Or something like that...

Xoros1364 In reply to samburley [2011-07-07 00:23:07 +0000 UTC]

Ah, yeah. Inferno Titan is a mythic rare from 2011 and 2012 set. I hate the card, it had the WORST art but a great effect. This one is actually worth the money, and I might have to find it. Keep it up!

samburley In reply to Xoros1364 [2011-07-07 01:19:48 +0000 UTC]

LOL, thanks. I got lucky that wasn't one of Kev Walker's better works, otherwise it'd be a REALLY tough act to follow!

Xoros1364 In reply to samburley [2011-07-07 02:30:32 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, normally I love his stuff, just wasn't thrilled with that one. Yours has that sick Norse feel to it, like the giant is about to go kill some gods. It does the card a bit more justice.

Did you use a traditional medium on this one too?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

samburley In reply to BastianBalthazarBux [2011-04-01 20:17:02 +0000 UTC]

No, I would have liked to, but figures are a big hurdle for me and painting traditionally has a much larger margin of error in my case. So I kinda played it safe here

Very, very powerful composition & value rhythm. I love the spikes on his leg armour, gives it that extra sense of danger.

amazing I like, like many others, the power coming from the character.
(although what makes me laugh is how impractical many of the weapons in fantasy are XD)

very good painting ^_^

samburley In reply to TheBrightBeast [2011-04-01 20:19:26 +0000 UTC]

Yes indeed. 3 mace heads might work, but the chains are much too long to be practical for anything besides a compositional element.
