I will do so when I am drawing a realistic character, but thin, dramatic, flowing shapes is kind of my thing when it comes to my style. wrists, ankles, necks, wastes, wherever the shapes feel good. When I am given a willowy character, I will accentuate that. Halting the flow and motion of my cartoon style for realism isn't really a thing I am interested in doing, it would be awkward and disruptive. I don't know why you would wish me to do that. Specificly with girls, I guess my tiny wasted, ribless men are ok with you: [x] [x] ?

But despite everything you hate being a fairly big part of my style, I get the feeling that this isn't really about my style and wanting my style to be... well a different style, but about the character's body type and the lack of variation of body types in art, regardless of style. The body a character in a commission gets is the body the creators ask me for, but you might find more satisfaction in some of my personal work, for example:

 

I get that this particular character is not the body type you'd like to see, and maybe it upsets you that I've drawn it for this person, but switching to start a critique about my art and immediately generalize about what you wish from all artists feels a lot like dumping your frustrations an expectations with the art world you populate into my lap. It's rather awkward, like my disappointing you by drawing this character has furthered your disappointment with artists and like what I do doesn't actually enter this equation. It's not really about improving my style or opening artistic venues or even getting me to try new things (since even a quick glance at my gallery would prove that this drawing isn't really indicative my range of content). It's about you not wanting to look at skinny girls anymore, complete with disappointed emote, which isn't so much a critique as passive aggression.

I get your frustration, I do, but please don't be passive aggressive towards artists about it, it doesn't feel good

Um wow that was... a long and unnecessarily defensive response to my comment in which I not only praised your art style, but even apologized if my *only* concern with the artwork came off as being nitpicky. I certainly didn't intend any meanness in my feedback, and sure if you're not going for realism then absolutely, draw bodies as impossibly thin as you'd like. You're making claims that I "hate" your art, am "passive aggressive" and "don't have an issue with the way you draw men" etc etc. None of these overblown accusations can be found in my innocuous comment. Suppose some can't handle feedback that isn't 100% positive, even though my reception to your work was actually mostly positive.

1. The feedback wasn't really about my art, it was a statement about what you don't like about "what artists do", to passively agressivly get around to telling me you don't like to see it in this image. Stating you like something to lead into an upset statement about what you hate about the art around you is kind of like starting a sentence "no offense, but", it rings hollow and comes across kind of "mean girl" ish, whether you intended it to or not.

2. If your statements weren't being passive aggressive, they would just outright say "I don't like that you drew this girl this thin" not "I hate it when artists ___". So either this is you being passive agressive about me drawing a skinny girl, and is therefor kind of a mean spirited feedback about me not drawing things to your personal preferences (since no comments on how I could improve my style where made), or it's not passive aggressive and you came to my page and started talking about other people at me for no reason, in which case no feedback was being made because you where talking about other people.

Feel free to just speak your mind, if you don't like something but really want someone to know you don't like it, just say it.

Ok, since you appreciate directness, I dislike that you drew this girl to look as if she has no ribcage. I also dislike the million other arguably unfounded and overblown insinuations you've made about me and my opinions based on one innocuous and hastily made comment on your work (which was never intended to be malicious or "mean girlish" like wow) but that has nothing to do with your art. Happy?
