History

WARNING: Homicide & Torture

Ophelia was born overseas, in Luxor City, Egypt. Her father, Douglass Crawford, was of the many archeologists that set out to excavate there. While her mother, Fazia Belghazouani of Moracco, resided there to aid distant relatives. During the not so strenuous excavation sessions, Douglass woud bring Ophelia along, showing her the many places like the Luxor Temple and Valley of Kings/Queens as he shared stories and history. Despite the hot and dry weather, life in the desert city was a pleasant one. Tutors were on hand to educate Ophelia and her mother stayed to look after her as lessons went on. She would share what she learned to her father when he arrived from work. Even though he was exhausted, Douglass would stay awake to spend time with his family before turning in for the night.

When Ophelia turned 10, her father's time in Egypt was up and he could finally return home to New York. The trip excited her as she relayed stories about America from Douglass. She was excited about the new life she'd live which it was at first. Her father's return was openly welcomed and his colleagues, neighbors and cohorts were elated to hear about him getting married and having a child. Once he did introduced his wife and Ophelia, at a gathering, the people weren't so enthusiastic, if anything they were shocked. They didn't expect him to do such a thing. Some of them voiced their 'concerns' on the matter, completely disregarding Opehila and her mother's presence in the process. Angered, Douglass told them off then took his family home immediately after. Being young, Ophelia asked her father why those people were making him mad. She was answered with "You'll understand when you're older." By the time she turned 16, she did come to understand her father's words. She saw the lies and hypocrisy from those around her. The looks they gave her, the snide comments of being a half-breed made Ophelia feel sick and her self-esteem lowered. It got worse when the neighborhood kids picked on her. This went on for months until one day, she snapped and hit one of her agrgressors in the face. Since then, she'd get into fights to proctect herself. Yet, Ophelia was penalized because of how she looked and how were she came from effected her behavior. Some of the parents wanted to press charges but because of Douglass's influence and contributions to the community, it was a council decision for her to stay until she turned 20. Douglass refused however, Ophelia was alright with it, seeing how she hated living there and how pigheaded his so called friends were being.

A week after her 20th birthday, Ophelia set off on her own, leaving her home in the Hamptons. She travelled and settled in Manhattan, managing to rent an apartment. There weren't too many stable jobs she managed to stay in as she discovered quickly how much she liked the freedom of moving around. For many days, would Ophelia vist and explore sub-neighborhoods, often being a frequent at Harlem. She enjoy the liveliness and full of soul the people were there and the soul in the music they played. It didn't take long for her to make friends either and over time her once low esteem rose if not rekindled in a way. Her time was also spent in Chinatown, Little Italy, Tribeca, even to the outskirts of Queens and Brooklyn. Her trips came to a stand still as she had to find work. Surprisingly, she came to having a knack at sewing and decided to take a tailoring job in Brooklyn. It was fun while it lasted as the store was bought out by an anonymous party when she was 7 months in. Ophelia kept up her likeness for sewing as she'd made it a practice of altering her clothes to deconstructioning/reconstructioning them. The rest of her days, she went around taking up odd jobs to make ends meet.

Such jobs were done in the middle class to low class areas of New York. Ophelia wouldn't dare go to the upscale neighborhoods. She'd hang out at bars. speakeasies, even where the prostitutes were stationed. Fascinated by the stories the women told, she stuck around listening to them and eventually befriended the ladies. She would do patchwork to their clothes to making new ones for them. At that time crime was on the rise and the police were craking down on cleaning up the streets. There were occasions where Ophelia was arrested on accounts of prostitution even though she never partook in any activities and was released due to that. It never stopped her from going back seeing as the women were her friends and wouldn't abandon them. Some of the girls were confused as to why Ophelia stayed but after witnessing her care for them, they considered her as one of them, as family. One day, a man was being rough with one of the girls and Ophelia stepped in to get him to stop. However, her and the man got into a fight but she manage to make him leave. That's when she realized she needed to learn a better defense. Guns were too loud for her tastes and made more mess. She wanted a more quiet approach. So Ophelia went to Chinatown for help as some of people were familiar with her when she visited and did past jobs there. An older couple she aided before knew of persons that could teach her things. A duo that were versed in the art of acupuncture. Immediately, Ophelia went to them, asking to teach her. It wasn't after she showed her worth before they agreed to take her in. Days when she didn't have work, Chinatown was were she went.

Once her lessons completed, Ophelia was back to where her friends were. Unofficially, she became a guard of some kind. She would stand watch in alleyways or corners, keeping an eye on any one that caused problems. Her work did not go unnoticed to those in the underground. Ophelia was thanked personally by a boss as the area she defended was under a mafia rule. The man offered her a job and from there her life changed. Many jobs started out as terf protection to special persons bodyguarding. Her first official kill happened when an assassin tried to take out the person she was guarding. The act startled her at first but she grew accustomed to doing it as more jobs rolled around. The guarding elevated to escourt jobs as far to the city of Albany and to the state of New Jersey. The more important the person, the more dangerous the threats. As they rose, Ophelia left bodies as pin cusions. Using sharpen knitting needles for stabbing and cutting while she used smaller sewing needles to immobilize enemies. During some escourt or bodygurading missions, she would either do the torturing or aid in doing it.
