after a sufficient day of schooling, aria let citi nibble on some grass outside of the ring while she waited for ash to be brouht out to school for advanced jumping. so far it had been an amazing show, being able to compete with citi for the first time since her injury and getting to move up in the levels with ash. she was debating letting willow school him today for a bit; they had taken quite a liking to the young grey. she was snapped back to attention as a feisty bay mare pranced into the ring. the rider seeming mildly annoyed with the horse started warming up. the mare gave aria deja vu and thought of cali when she first came in. this might be entertaining; aria thought to herself. citi seemed to notice the mare and lifted her head and pricked her ears; with a few pieces of grass hanging out her mouth. as the bay passed the pair as they sat on the opposite side of the rail, aria caught a better look of the rider's face. the two had briefly met earlier in the week at one of the booths. aria recalled his name was jax. citi seemed to loose interest and rooted her head back down into the grass, nearly yanking the reins out of aria's hand. after regathering her reins, citi jerked her head up at something and aria looked and saw the bay mare flying nearly over the standards over a smaller jump. jax, who had lost his stirrups hung on for dear life. aria cringed slightly as he landed hard on the mare's neck and watched the two zoom around the ring, throwing a few bucks before being able to regain control. she heard jax mutter, "goddamn it amber..." under his breath on the back side of the fence. aria heard a voice and turned her head to see willow jogging with ash behind them. aria waved and dismounted citi and gave her a pat on the neck before she traded with willow. aria was about to ask if they wanted to warm ash up, but they received a call and ran back to the guest stables with a wave. maybe next time, aria thought as she walked ash over to a mounting block.
