The crown made me do it. 
What can I say? Patience isn't one of my strengths. XD I did not intend to post a work in progress picture - I mean, just look at how frightening it looks! - but a number of things made me change my mind. For one thing, I haven't actually drawn in about a year, and I seem to be a lot more rusty than I at first though. 
Tips, critiques, etc. are welcome.

This drawing is frustrating though. I keep fighting with the lips in particular. Grr. XD

It really was amazing, wasn't it? Ah, too many pretties. I admit it, I hid behind my hands at the spiders though.
Lips are terrible. I erased them and tried to redo them. Turns out they looked better in this WIP. Grr. Thranduil and I are currently not speaking to each other, but I really want to get the finished portrait up here soon! Sigh. XD

It was an awesome scene. As was the gold covered Smaug. I'm just saying.
We've had some time apart. I saw a photo I'd taken of a WIP today and am tempted to continue working on it. Hopefully. It isn't as bad as I remember... XD
