So many details to love!
Scabbers, the piles of sweets, Crabbe picking his nose (or is it Goyle?Β  I can never keep them straight).
You pay so much attention to all your drawings - this is a great example.

Yes! That exact one! It's absolutely beautiful. If you have the time or money to grab it, I highly suggest it. <3 If I ever have kids I'm 100% going to read them from these particular books. And I had no idea this scene was actually in the book! I've only read the Sorcerer's Stone once a good six or so years ago. But you illustrated it WONDERFULLY. Exactly how I thought it would look.

And of course! <3

Hahaha, that's so good! Love how you've put Crabbe and Goyle in the background without lines of black ink. I also adore all their expressions, especially Ron's.

Your illustrations somehow remind me of Rolf Rettich's whimsical style. He was my absolute favourite when I was a child. I loved his lively black and white ink drawings full of details and little scenes in the background.

s-u-w-i In reply to Leochi [2017-10-23 21:01:11 +0000 UTC]

Thank you, you're so dear! (actually Ron's expression is my favorite too, haha)

I'm ashamed to say I did not know him until now but thank you very much for introducting him to me! His works look so lovely (I shall go and exlore his work now) β™₯

Leochi In reply to s-u-w-i [2017-10-23 21:49:23 +0000 UTC]

You're very welcome, I ADORE your art. I think you must be my favourite ink artist on DA.

Oh, really? No need to be ashamed at all. Rolf Rettich was a German illustrator that was probably best known in German speaking countries He was my absolute favourite. He has illustrated the Pippi Langstrumpf stories by Astrid Lindgren, the works of James KrΓΌss and many others. I wish you lots of fun discovering his works.

Another illustrator you might be interested in, is Franz Josef Tripp. He used lots of ink too, and created very intricate and whimsical drawings, too. He was a favourite of mine, too.

Yep, I saw some of his illustration for Pippi Langstrumpf just now :3 That's another book I should read, I've only seen the movies as a kid. Franz Josef Tripp's works are wonderful as well, thank you! I love old illustrators so much β™₯
My favorite ink illustrator is probably Adolf BornΒ  Β his works are always so funny

Leochi In reply to s-u-w-i [2017-10-26 18:56:46 +0000 UTC]

*grins* Pippi Langstrumpf was a big favourite of mine when I was a child. I actually only have read the books and not watched the films. I generally prefer books, and illustrations often convey so much more than films.

Thank you so much for mentioning Adolf Born, I've googled him and I can see why you love his work. He is very funny indeed.

s-u-w-i In reply to Leochi [2017-11-01 17:52:02 +0000 UTC]

Yes, of course me too. And I would probably read the books as a kid but I'm not too sure if they were even released in Czech...I only know about the movies because they used to be on TV.

Hehehe glad you think so! And his work is incredibly diverse as well (he was so reaaaally productive, too )

Leochi In reply to s-u-w-i [2017-11-01 23:47:44 +0000 UTC]

Oh, it's never too late to readΒ  children's literature. I still find most Astrid Lindgren's books wonderful. As I work with children, I often go back to my own childhood favourites to re-read them and tell the kids the stories I enjoyed the most.
I wasn't allowed much TV in my childhood, so I didn't watch many series, but I got many books from my godmother and my aunt, so I spent most of my time reading and drawing.

He's a great illustrator, for sure!
Btw do you know the works of Janusz Grabiansky? He used to be another favourite of mine.
