Description A fan art of Malta and Sirius from The Sea Prince and the Fire Child (Sirius no Densetsu). I did it for a friend a while back. They're very sprite-ish characters with exagerrated features. I tried to make it look like cel art . . . . Malta's wings were a fun experiment.

Nice job! I'm doing some research on the English voice cast since I found out Tony Oliver voiced Sirius, and I can't remember the wise sea turtle, Aristurtle's name. Malta's voice actor is familiar, but I can't find her name.

This movie came out the year I was born and I recall watching it when I was too young to understand. i recently re-discovered it and love this drawing. It surprised me how exaggerated their fetures are when compared to my memory lol. I seem to remember them slightly differently.

So far, this was the second in my search. The first one turned out to be Nausica and the Valley of the Winds. I don't know the name of the their but it has to do with tiny unicorn on a quest to save someone. Funny how so many of these animes came out in 1981.

Oh, are you referring to Unico? I loved those movies too!

As for their features... Super-exaggerrated aren't they! But when I drew it I made sure to look up a ton of references (well, what few there are of it.... I wish it came out on DVD here!!)

Yeah you know what, it was unico! Apparently I must have watched unico's two movies back to back when I was a toddler. Just re-lived the experience using youtube. I love people who post those things. There's still one cartoon I can't find though.

When I was ike 10-12 there was a TV show called CBS Story Break and it's episodes were books turned into 30 min cartoons. One was called Dragon's Blood and it looked NOTHING like the book... BUT it was my favorite and I wish I could find it.

Yes! There was one Unico movie where he met a cat that got turned into a girl named Katy, and then the one with Toby, the piper, who turned everyone into stone.... /nerdgasm

Have you tried to wiki CBS story break? Maybe they'd have a list of all the episodes!

Sorry for the late reply...

LOL nerdgasm...

I have looked EVERYWHERE for the episodes. I've found Ratha's Creature on youtube but that's it. I've seen nerdy 80's Cartoon forums where people are sending each other copies of episodes, but I don't want to get into something like that. I would probably only get the copy as a VHS tape and um... well, technology has moved on in my house.

For anyone who's interested - The movie is available on Youtube! Its copyright is apparently up since it hasn't been taken down... Part of it's been cut away, but all the good mushy stuff is still there ^.^

I love this movie!! I remember seeing it was I was very young in the early 90's. Around 2002 I tried looking for it and when I told people about the movie they all thought I was crazy and made it up. xD

Oh my God....no seriously...that OMG is heart felt...I saw this faved in a friend's gallery...and so I click..and I think...after over 20 years of searching...I have finally found something for this cartoon movie I saw when I was very little...I have always wanted to see that movie again...and no one ever knew what I was talking about...and I thought maybe it had either been an anime (back before anime was big in America) or a Polish cartoon...thanks to you and Vanja...I found that movie again!! Uh....probably not the comment you were expecting but...this movie has been driving me nuts for years...I never thought to see it again...so thank you!!
I have to fave this for sentimental reasons, plus it's a cute image! (Which is why I clicked on the thumbnail to look at it better!)

I should thank your friend too! What a happy coincidence she liked this movie too! Really never expected to see it again...and every year my memory of it faded more and more. Been doing some searching around to, and you're right about the name it had for it's U.S. release.

I know this is from a while ago, but have you found a copy of The Legend of Sirius yet?

Hey, it's all good! Thanks for the I drew this for a friend a couple of years ago, who was a big fan of it. She was able to only find a few small scans of a movie booklet, though. I'm honestly not sure if I have ever seen it myself (since it's so old) but I always try to look for it whenever I can I believe it was done by Sanrio. I wanna say 1977, but I'm not sure . . . it was called Sirius no Densetsu (Legend of Sirius) and in the US it was called The Sea Prince and the Fire Child (I think).
