Cuando ella Llega a su casa , Shizuka le dice a su padre, que ella esta decidida a mantener su relación con Matthews Black, un maestro de idiomas que conoció en un puesto de comida al comprar una comida que su padre le ordeno comprar.

Mr. saeki (es un hombre frió,despiadado y nunca quiso a su hija.. mas que para el trabajo en pintar obras junto a el ya que shizuka era excelente en la pintura y realizaba cuadros hermosos que apreciaba todo el pueblo de Tsumago-juku/japón).
Al oír la noticia de su emocionada hija, El le dice a su hija que esta equivocada al estar con el y siguió diciéndole para tratar de convencerla, pero shizuka lo niega y le dice que es un buen hombre, que ya le propuso matrimonio y que ella espera a casarse pronto.

Su padre con ataque de furia y desesperación por no poder convencerla, decide echarla de casa y le dice que no vuelva, el jamas va a apoyarla si algo le sale mal y que tampoco le interesa conocer a su futuro nieto.
shizuka solo tenia a su padre y a sus 2 hermanas mayores, su madre fue asesinada, ahora que su padre la corrió de casa y no esta dispuesto a apoyarla, shizuka quedo sola y decidió vivir sola en un departamento, matthews al enterarse de eso... el le dice que se vaya a vivir con el, pero shizuka se niega hasta que estén casados entonces si, a lo que llevo a que matthews adelantara la fecha para casarse con ella lo mas pronto posible.

Shizuka had only his father and his two older sisters, his mother was murdered, now that his father ran and will not support it, shizuka left alone and decided to live alone in a departament, matthews to learn that ... He invites shizuka in his departament to stay togheter, but she refuses until they are married, so, matthews have to bring forward the date to married with her as soon as possible.
