Description I’m tired of this.
I’m tired of pain.
I’m tired of hurt.
I’m tired of people acting like it’s OK
to live in a world plagued by darkness and pain,
like sin is no big deal, like tragedy is just an everyday thing.

We wake up in the morning and start our days with gluttony,
fully aware that there are starving children out there,
so to make ourselves feel better we tell our children to eat their vegetables,
as if finishing your meal will make any difference for that starving little boy,
out in the heat of the desert.

We make jokes about prostitutes.
We watch girls get exploited every single day,
and we still don’t seem to realize that they are trapped, caught, enslaved in sin,
JUST LIKE YOU!!!
We fail to realize that WE are as in need of the Cross as they are!
We pretend like they’re below us, those girls, when in reality we are stuck in the same thing.
We see it everywhere we go and we justify it by saying things like “sex sells.”
Yeah, sex sells more innocent little girls into exploitation and slavery than,
Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Apple, eBay, Yahoo, and Netflix will ever hope to sell themselves,
COMBINED!
We act like it’s OK for people to still be enslaved after having abolished slavery for almost 150 years!

We act like it’s OK for kids to live alone in the corner.
Like it’s not abnormal for them to be cutting themselves at home,
like the rising suicide rate among teenagers isn’t a really big deal at all.
Like it’s OK for my entire high school to have attempted suicide 430 times over in 2011.
Seven point eight percent.
One million, five hundred sixty thousand students!
And it’s growing.

And you sit there with your Starbucks and your iPhone,
instagramming the food that someone else made for you,
and you pretend that it’s OK,
that you can sit in your little bubble of “It’s OK”
and not notice that the girl right next to you has fresh scars on her wrists,
because you haven’t bothered to listen to the pain that she is ITCHING to get out,
so she scratches at her wrists, sometimes with nails,
sometimes with razorblades and you still don’t seem to care.

Am I calling you out?
No.
I’m calling US out!

I’m tired of living in a world where we hide lighthouses under bowls.
I’m tired of living in a world so stupid, proud, and foolish, that it is unwilling
to recognize that there is power in the Cross to fix things,
that there is a right way and a wrong way,
and for as far as we can remember we’ve been doing it all WRONG!
We forget to realize that love your neighbor as yourself, actually includes OTHER PEOPLE!
We try to censor ourselves so that things fit for everyone,
so we black out the Cross
EXACTLY the way that Soviets blacked out the letters my grandfather received from his sister in Estonia.

I’m tired of this.
I’m tired of pain.
I’m tired of hurt.
I’m tired of people acting like it’s OK
to live in a world plagued by darkness and pain,
like sin is no big deal, like tragedy is just an everyday thing.

It’s time for a Revolution of lights and laborers.
It’s time for us to pick up our crosses, step outside our own little worlds, and make things right!
It’s time!

I may not be Christian, but this is a revolution I would fully support. Great poem. Hold on to that fire!

Thank you, and in all honesty, these aren't really my words. These are God's words through me. This is the voice of fire. I can't tell you how many times I've talked and people have said, "wow that was amazing." And I've had no idea what I've just said. It's God speaking through me. It's revival. It's light, and I'm glad it's catching on. This is how wildfires start. One atom gets excited, and then the others around it get excited and then it grows and grows and suddenly the entire country is awash with fire and we have a massive paradigm shift in our lives and in our nation.
