The lighting on this "strange planet" looks waaaay off, the the sudden shift from the atmospheric blue moutainas to the void of space just does not look right. Use more appropriate stock photos that may match what you wanna do. Simply a night terrain view would have made all the different in this shot.

I am well aware of that, and that's actually part of what I was going for. The dude is looking back on Earth and wishing that he was there. He's picturing himself back home backpacking in the Appalachia, which are famous for their blue Β mistiness, because that's what he did. It's all about longing to be home. I do get what you're saying, though. The piece was inspired by Daylight by brave Saint Saturn, which is all about being stranded in space and not getting back home. In fact that's what their three albums are about. I really do suggest you listen to them, they've got a neat perspective on stuff. And they sound awesome. And they're part of Five Iron Frenzy, which too is awesome.

No, I dont think you get what I am saying. The photomanipulation you made looks wrong aethetically. I get you are trying to make it mean something and represent the song, but that doesnt mean you cant make it look better and blend. The mountains can have a misty look at night, and even if you cant find any pics with that, you can add some mist yourself. There are plenty of tutorials on this website posted by people. The thing is, the person is looking at his home during the day, and since he is between the planet and the sun, it should be night for him. It'd look much better if you used that type of picture instead of a daytime picture. You dont see space during the day. Only at night.

Sorta. That and It was daylight both on the moon and on Earth, so the timing of things would be right, and it does look really weird because on the moon it's daylight, and the ground is perfectly lit, but, around you, you see space, which is sorta really trippy, because we're used to having an atmosphere with stuff in it that blocks our view of space during the day because of the way that it scatters light that enters in through it. That's why the entire sky appears blue during the day, but at night, with less light coming through, there isn't as much diffraction and stuff. On the moon there is no such atmosphere, so we are in daylight yet we can see into space perfectly.
