This lost so much contrast. I need a scanner, not a camera.The actual image does not have the boy darker than the girl, and nobody is so darkly outlined.
Critique welcome, but not really needed, I've picked out the mistakes but will probably not fix them.
Done off of a photograph reference. Mechanical pencil and a kneaded eraser.

Anyway, despite your stated lack of proper scanning, the shading and textures come through wonderfully.
I also find the subject to be a welcome sight here on DA. There are WAY too few platonic relationships represented in the area of "love."
