Description
The Grasshopper Sparrow - Ammodramus savannarum, is a very secretive species of sparrow that breeds exclusively in grasslands. Because this species is so habitat specific, their numbers are steadily declining throughout their range due to the destruction of the grasslands. This species gets its name not only from its favorite food (grasshoppers), but also for its song, which sounds nearly identical to a grasshopper. This particular bird was singing on territory in grassland habitat on Cape Cod.Crane Wildlife Management Area

Thanks! It's actually not a tough Sparrow to get against an absurdly clean background if you can find them singing...because they sing from the highest perch around...which isn't that high in the grasslands.
