Description
The first ever drawings I did for Overcast! Of course, these are far from perfect, and very outdated, but still posted for future reference. I'm thinking about remaking them in the future.
Here is an introduction to who is who!
The characters: /From upper left to right/
Elliot Porter - A fine young gentleman, charming, neat and polite, and always in need of money. With a colorful history including acting, performing magical illusions, and being an occasional conman, Elliot is always ready to make a quick fortune, even if his quest for fame and wealth doesn't always land him on the safer path. Featuring well-mannered opportunism, Elliot is quick to escort Balthazar on his investigations, making a nearly decent assistant, which somewhat fits his energetic and eccentric personality, even though he mostly uses these entertaining qualities to get on Balthazar’s nerves.
Annabel "Annie" Montgomery - Daughter of the deceased aristocrat Lord Montgomery, Annie is surrounded by an air of mystery and secrecy with her dramatic, flowing black outfits and darkly elegant fashion choices. Possessing an attitude of discreet irony, Annie is the expert on condescending and subtle one-liners, with a kind of distaste for the overly haughty demeanor of the royal society. With her becoming the current talk of the town due to her past affair with Balthazar, Annie prefers to stay out of the public's eye and devote her life to donating to different types of charities, writing to the local newspaper under a pseudonym, working on her upcoming novel and joining to various secret alliances, that might have or might have not had something to do with the more metaphysical.
Balthazar Crawfield - Balthazar is the new private detective of London, troubled by the past, a man on the run. Never without his aura of impending doom and danger, he is the subject of gossip, rumors, and back-fence talk, resulting from his relationship with Annie and a certain burnt-down Montgomery estate. Despite perfecting the art to appear as sullen and brooding as one can get, he undoubtedly has a certain magnetic, alluring charisma due to being the master of cunning and witty comebacks, combined with a genuine will to do good with unveiling London's mysteries. Sophisticated in his method, a rebel at heart, who seems to struggle with his own emotional sensitivity and personal integrity, yet, his self-awareness is refreshing. When he is not all doom and gloom, Balthazar moderately enjoys cryptic literature and heavy-hearted prose.
Harriet Darlington - The former helper of Miss Annie, who later formed a motherly bond with her. A bundle of positivity and endless enthusiasm, Harriet is more than ready to jump into whatever new adventure Balthazar and Elliot will take and is eager to tag along and assist the duo whenever she can, to Balthazar and Annie’s greatest dismay. Looking at the bright side, she loves to make people laugh and she could always find something to be amused about, but when she deems the time necessary to get through her request, she isn’t afraid to use her sweet-talking nature to her benefit and turn the tide. Harriet’s endless interests range from reading whacky adventure novels to singing and attending séances, being here and there, and solving crazy mysteries even though her intrepid personality and naivete get her in trouble.
